I thought Tennant did pretty well at Christmas. He seemed faintly over the top but we'll see how he gets on once the regular series starts.
The only thing that bothered me was when he dropped the hatch out from under the alien captain. The Doctor has always been extremely reluctant to kill ( in fact, I can't think of him ever doing so before); that's not a change in his character that I'd like to see. Unless it was a foreshadowing of the Valeyard, perhaps?
