What sports did you play in HS, or did you play in the band

Post by Biff »

I wrestled at the 152lbs class. I loved it...
I also raced BMX.
was a Goalie in Soccer (True football).
and was catcher in Baseball.

Got the idea from the "How old are you thread" Thanks guys, for going off topic and turning the light on for me.

I wrestled at the Unlimited class, being 264 pounds at the time. And I hated it for reasons previously stated. I only did it because I needed a winter sport. There were good times, though, and I was passingly good.
I played football (not soccer--manly football) as a lineman.
Played baseball for about 5 years in elementary school and bowled in 4th grade (got 1st place in my Bantam league).

Amen to that!
I used to play at either full back postion.

I used to play badminton and field hockey for the school (I represented the mighty county of Rutland (sixteen square miles of farmland) at hockey in fact). I was also a competition fighter at Tae Kwon do.

I'm focusing on my fencing right now. Believe me, my sword is mightier than your pen.

I was a bookworm (still am), also loved to write (still do), tho I don't show that stuff to anyone. I was also into art and music in high school...was in the band and choir. I play the piano, clarinet, violin, viola, cello, flute and piccolo. I did/do like tennis tho. And hubby keeps trying to get me into playing golf...not my thing, I get too frustrated trying to get that little ball into those little holes..hehe :)
And I believe in you
altho you never asked me too
I will remember you
and what life put you thru.

I played soccer, leftwing and backup goalie (goalie in college), goalie in hockey and point guard in basketball--until I had a growth spurt and became "the rebounding machine! :D ". In the spring I played lacrosse and was co-capt. of the tennis team where I went 12-4 my senior year. (Biff we do have a sports forum...)

Well... I'm still in high school, but...

Well I swim for one, but that's not attached to the school because our school is too crappy. I played basketball in 5th grade and hated it and never played again. I'm nearly 6' so I get "YOU MUST BE THE STAR OF THE TEAM!!" at least 493874239578 times a year, they all can't understand why I would rather do a silly thing like swim than play basketball (basketball is HUGE here). I played volleyball until 8th grade when I got cut, supposedly because I would be missing half the season for vacation (fair enough) but I just sucked. I did tennis last year... wasn't too fond of that one either so I don't think I'll do it again. I played soccer ever since I was a little guy... but last year, no girls team! :( I played all the positions... most commonly goalie or foward. I've been in the ski club since 7th grade usually snowboarding I've only skied a couple times since 5th grade when my dad says I switched over to the dark side

Oh yeah, I'm in the band too! (Alto sax) Our band is pretty awesome. Except for those god awful hats we have to wear when we march. Pep band at football and basketball games is so full of energy and it's just a lot of fun. :D

I like this... So far none have played the usual sports.

Everyone I know seems to be wrapped up in football and Basketball.

I tried to make it a point to play the sports no one else wanted to. I even made Pro class and got a sponsorship in BMX at age 16. However, the race that took me pro, was my last. I wrecked going over the finish, the next day I was having my eye operated on. Couldn't play sports again till my Sr. year.

Not huge, but big enough. It was just a crap school, that's all  We did technically have a football team, ASC Dayncourt, but to the best of my knowledge they never played or indeed had any players

Well I played good ole football and basketball for Musselman High School. We won the AA State Championship in 95' and made the regional semi-finals in basketball in 96'.
I played flanker and safety in football, starting on defense and was a backup 2 guard in basketball. I averaged 9 pts and 4 steals coming off the bench. I once fouled out in just over 2 minutes too.
I wouldn't trade them for the world, I think.

Aren’t the lost of NON scholastic teams in the UK? I know in Germany and Italy most of the kids there are on these teams sponsored by the local sports gym. Too bad, HS is the best time to play... now I am too broken to think about any of it.

OH YEAH! And in 6th grade I played French horn in the band. I had the cleanest, spiffiest looking horn, too! Too bad I never practiced with it . . .

Yes, it's true, we Brits aren't as big on school sports as our friends across the Atlantic. But believe me, no band or team at all is a poor showing, even for here

I played football very briefly my freshman year until I realized it wasn't worth 20 hours of practice for maybe 1 hour of game time (I like sports, just not organized sports). I did the golf team for a year.

Academic Team - 4 years, captain junior and senior year, same two years we took first.
Yearbook - 3 years, last two years as photography editor (rolled the film, took most of the pictures, developed all the pictures. spent most of my time in the darkroom. left the actual "editing" to the girls).
Drama Club - 4 years, did the Shakespeare festival every year. I've been Laertes, the lead in Taming of the Shrew (name escapes me), the three witches in MacBeth (all 3... at once... with props), and Father Francis from As You Like it, if memory serves.
"It is not the literal past that rules us, save, possibly, in a biological sense. It is images of the past. Each new historical era mirrors itself in the picture and active mythology of its past or of a past borrowed from other cultures. It tests its sense of identity, of regress or new achievement against that past.”

I was in the drama club, though I was much too shy  to ever want to be on stage. I did lots of behind the scenes stuff, though...
And I was a stats girl for the wrestling team. Now both of my sons are wrestlers... :)

Hey Duch, I did some behind the scenes stuff for drama too. We also had a fully functioning TV station... I did a little work on our version of "Wake up Wakefield."

Oh, and when I said I did some "behind the scene stuff" that has two meanings... hehehehe.

Soccer (midfielder) and Baseball (catcher) here.
Played Hockey (center) too, but our school didn't have an offical team.
