What fantasy/science fiction book are you reading RIGHT NOW?

Hail all, has anyone read The Dark Tower series by Stephen King...I saw it on Amazon and thought about getting the first one. But, I'm not a big fan of his.

If anyone has read it, can you tell me what you thought of it? Thanks

With the power all messed up I had plenty of reading time. I finished up Simmons's Ilium, which I loved...also Banks's Consider Phlebas which I also loved, and am now working on the Earthsea books...

At the rate she reads she's already done with all 6+ Earthsea related books!

I just bought Shadow of the Torturer by Gene Wolfe--getting set 2 read all 4 books that comprise The Book of the New Sun.

No, I am only halfway done with the first -- and it looks like I'll have to skip number 3, as I can find all of the others except for that one. It must be in a box in the scarey room of the basement...

Just started reading Ilium. So far its great with a number of good quotes and interesting twists.

But Duchess The Farthest Shore is the best! Finished Metaplanetary, damm good, the sequel will be called Superluminal! Reading the 1st chapter of Torturer and am already blown away by Wolfe's prose, check this out:

I've read the Dark Tower Series and have enjoyed each and every one immensely. I would give them a hearty recommendation and you can blame me if you don't like them. Wonderful Fantasy!

I picked up the Gunslinger at the library today to give it a whirl. Sounds interesting a fantasy that starts out like a western.

I'm finishing up WGW right now thanks to this site. I read the Chronicles when I was in high school and after stumbling upon Kevins Watch last year, I decided to re-read the entire series.
Gene Wolfe is incredible Danlo! If you're that into it after the first chapter, you definitely won't be disappointed. I think the Urth of the New Sun series will be next for me!

Yeah, while reading The Book of the Long Sun, I've also been going back over The Book of the New Sun but with a highlighter. It's hard not to just highlight whole pages at a time.

I also recommend the Dark Tower books, but I'm getting really impatient for the next book. The man can put out a new book every 6 months, but when it comes to finishing a series... !

The Long Sun will probably be my next read. Just need to find the time.

I live in Medford (Near Cherry Hill, SE of Philadelphia.) It's sort of rural, but is just close enough to the city to get out for the night.

I am home sick, running another fever, and trying to make up my mind over what to read next...I jave just finished the first two books of LeGuin's Earthsea series, but the third book is in a box someplace in the basement...I am trying to decide whether to skip it and go on to book four, or to read something else entirely...there are a couple of history books I've been wanting to read...

Fist wanted me to read Earthsea too. I remember picking it up many moons ago at the school library, but never was able to read it and had to take it back. Never got around to it again...
