Governing Council for Earth and Space

Post by Sorus »

I'm starting this thread again because it was just starting to get interesting when it was deleted in the first hack. :?

Three hundred years or so in the future, humanity has achieved planetary government. The obstacles even in the present day are tremendous, and this is a dark future. Would first contact with a potentially hostile alien race drive Earth to that level of unity?

Oh, a change is coming, feel these doors now closing
Is there no world for tomorrow, if we wait for today?

I don't think so. I'd like to believe we'd unite, but I think we'd all be angling for advantage with them.

I think we'd fight on how to combat the amnion; how best to deal with the menace.

It would deffinatly be cause for debate, to say the least.
One thing though, I suspect once it was found out that they were fairly hostile, in the sence that they wanted to mutate earthings to their own form; the differeing opinions on how we should deal with them, would converge rather quickly.

No, I don't think it would... and I don't think that the people on the Governing Council for Earth and Space were entirely realistic... or rather, I don't think the people who they are would realistically enable them to be in positions of that much power.

I mean Sixten? No, the media would not stop slashing it's politicians, and Abrim, the leader would have to go... he would be seen as too weak in the eyes of the public. And the Blaise Manse(?) the one who's only stated reason for bring on the Council was because it gave her new chances of sexual conquests; feable.
