Terisa spends a good part of the story dressed in a "Demure, dove-gray gown." I think there is a law against anime characters wearing demure, let alone gray, clothes. :D
I think Howl's Moving Castle will be out on DVD pretty soon. I'll tell you ahead of time that the story sometimes jumps around, but just the same much worth watching, no sailor moons running around... and I do believe there is a gray demure dress in it. maybe it's blue not sure.

p.s. I believe same creator as Spirited Away and Grave of Fireflies.

Not the comical anime - more in the vain of a Ghost In The Shell type show. The nice thing about anime, is that the amount of introspection necessary to do justice to the story wouldn't be out of place at all. I can imagine most of SRD's books translated to anime (or maybe graphic novels). Like I said, the GITS style and mood would be perfect. Yoko Kanno could even do the OST.
"But I don't want to go among mad people," Alice remarked.
"Oh, you can't help that," said the Cat: "we're all mad here. I'm mad. You're mad."
"How do you know I'm mad?" said Alice.
"You must be," said the Cat, "or you wouldn't have come here."
