I have a theme tune to the Second Chronicles!
Have you ever read a book while listening to music and a link is made in your mind so that whenever you listen to the music, you think of the book, and vice-versa?
As someone who listens to music alot and always has a book on the go, this has happened a few times, but only twice now has it been so strong. The first time was a long time ago, reading Dune and listening to The Soup Dragons "This is Our Art".
Now the new one is The Second Chronicles and Flogging Molly's "Within a Mile of Home" CD.
Here are some lyrics - there are just so many on the album that I can link to the books!
'I'll liberate your peoples' fate Spoke the Burnin Bush'
'Now the eagle soars the sky Over refugee and child
And to all there is no end Another day in perfect Hell'
'Sail away where no ball and chain
Can keep us from the roarin waves
Together undivided but forever we'll be free'
'Grapplin with their demons
In the search for liberty'
'Sufferers who suffer all
Can swim upon the desert
Where avarice has ravaged all
In spite of good intentions'
'So don't wreck yourself
Take an honest grip
For there's more tales beyond the shore'
'Tell me why must a man be of service
To his lord and the gods seldom high'
'There's no glint in a dead man's eye'
'Tell why must our peace be this puzzle
That fractures the land splinters war'
'To the ground that now bleeds
On the anguish that never learnt to shout'
'Well it breaks my heart To see you this way
The beauty in life where's it gone'
'He said I left my home where the dead never rose'
I could go on and on and on - those were just from the first five tracks!
This post has gone on far too long - sorry!
Book -> Music -> Book -> Music

I cant remember this exact song ( been a while since i listened to them ) but i really like Flogging Molly.
But if you're all about the destination, then take a fucking flight.
We're going nowhere slowly, but we're seeing all the sights.
And we're definitely going to hell, but we'll have all the best stories to tell.
Full of the heavens and time.

When I read the first and second chronicles (which I did over the course of a two week vacation in upstate NY) I listened to a single CD. The Chronicles and that CD are now inexorably linked in my mind. If I listen to the CD, I think of the Chronicles.
The CD was called Ultra Trance 1 (the first in a series of compilations albums from Ultra Records)

Was auch immer komm, dieses weiß ich für sicher:
Ich bin zurückgekauft.
Wenn Diamanten reichlich war, würden sie keinen Wert haben. Echter Wert kommt nich aus schönheit--er kommt aus seltenheit.
