SRD Convention photos

Post by ringthane »

Hi all,

I hope these links haven't been posted before. If so, I apologize for the rookie error!

I'm chomping at the bit to take some pics at tomorrow's conference and wondered if the board has seen these SRD pics:

www.kcsciencefiction.org/00wfc02.htm#5
www.kcsciencefiction.org/00wfc05.htm#4
www.kcsciencefiction.org/00wfc07.htm#4

They aren't the best pics, so I'm hoping to get some much better shots than what were shown above. I've got a Nikon N80, but I'm undecided whether I'm taking it or not -- I don't know if I'll have the time to mess with f-stops and shutter speeds and ISO. I'll probably just take my digital.

There were also photos of SRD with Ross and Perri Donaldson, who I'm assuming are his son and daughter. I did a search again for those pics and despite coming up on google, the page was no longer availble (Ross is a tall lad like his dad).

[Damn, google has the page cached, but the pictures on the page come up missing]

I just bought a disposable digital--and leaving my Pentax at home--I'm hoping the flash won't drive them crazy--I'll talk to the front desk about their policy 1st. 12 dollars! Highway robbery (but the developing costs r prob the same amt. as the camera! :? :-x )

Yeah, that may be one reason I take my N80 anyway -- I'll just take a fast film, play with the DOF and avoid the flash. I need to remember to turn the beep off on my digital as well so I don't annoy my favorite author during his reading. :)

Have fun -- I wish I could be there tonight to see GRRM. I should be rolling in Saturday late morning/early afternoon.

As a friend of Ross & Perry's, I have pics of them with myself and my wife, but as a friend, I didn't feel it was appropriate to post them publicly. I figured, since it's their father who is famous (and as such expects a certain level of publicity when it comes to his name/photograph), and not them, it was better to keep them to myself.

So, with that in mind, as a friend, I'm kinda glad those pics you speak of aren't available anymore. They have their own lives to lead, and I'm guessing they'd prefer not to be the object of second-hand fan attention, although I can state with a high level of confidence that it's not because they couldn't handle it. 8)

I would agree with you completely on that, Mouseglove. The children of famous people deserve privacy (if, of course, they wish for it). :)
