Hey! I think Delores has an amazing voice! I love The Cranberries. :D
You do not hear, and so you cannot be redeemed.

In the name of their ancient pride and humiliation, they had made commitments with no possible outcome except bereavement.

He knew only that they had never striven to reject the boundaries of themselves.

Yeah, that's about where they lost it for me too.

8O I'll have to accept that this is one of those cases where for example one person just loves spinach and the next one can't stand to be near enough to smell the stuff let alone eat it.
If everyone felt the same way I do about the cranberries they wouldn't have a single moment of recorded music and "Delores" would have been forced to sign a legal document forbidding her from uttering anything within 150 miles of the nearest microphone.
Live and let live. To each his own and by the way I still like Boston's first two albums.

Have you ever listened to Eminem, Sarge?

Even though I can't stand him, Eminem is very good.

There is no doubt that Eminem has talent/skill. However, I'm getting tired of all the talking about himself.

Rappers aren't rappers if they don't reference themselves in the majority of their songs. So far, at least, Eminem doesn't have a song that consists of "Em - In - Em -
Em - In - Em
Eminem mother****ers" (repeat for about 3 minutes)

i have listened to plenty of Em and it gets old quickly. Syl is right about the self-referencing.

if you want some good rap that goes beyond (into soul) try PM Dawn.

Didn't care for PM Dawn.

But I love Public Enemy and Digital Underground. Those guys were geniuses.

He doesn't just reference himself - the songs are about him.

PM Dawn is not rap. Hip hop, certainly, but not rap.

With you on P.E. and Digital Underground, Cail.

LM, name one rapper post Tupac that doesn't talk about himself or his crew more often than not. It's a very egocentric (and I don't use the term negatively) art form.

I guess modern rap is largely annoying - for me. However, earlier rap was less egocentric: Ice T, Run DMC, Public Enemy, NWA, etc.

The point I am getting at, is that it's not really creative to sing about tension with parents, how life was hard before rap, etc etc. It's as though they are creating characters out of themselves and thus reference themselves to give legitimacy to their work and for their fans. Sure Eminem is creative - his wordplay ability is astounding - just that there is too much about himself as an 'icon' or 'character'.
