Well, I just watched the first episode and loved it. It was great - the characters were fantastic and the story was good. Liked the idea of the Reavers. Bittersweet though, because it was cancelled.

It only gets better.

Since I viewed only one full episode of the orginal series I have to go with the film. (Which I thought was really good.) If I pick up the series on dvd I may end up changing my mind. We'll see.

That plot thread was taken care of in the Serenity comic books, released just prior to the movie.CovenantJr wrote:Yes, I was confused and disappointed by the absence of the "two by two, hands of blue" blokes in Serenity.

Unfortunately, I read the back of the Serenity dvd. Well, now I know River's secret, but doesn't matter I suppose; the episode I just watched revealed it, so it's not as if I wouldn't have found out out soon.
God, the relationship between Simon and River is fantastic.

Oh, and the 'Mrs Reynolds' episode was good, though I spotted the twist a mile away.

Bought the series because there was a deal on at the store, and I'm glad I did. I am now very bitter at Fox for cancelling it.
Gonna watch the movie again, then lend all the DVDs to Jay, who really, really needs just one more thing to distract him from his thesis.
Spoiler
I'm very disappointed that Wash and Book are gone. Not fair, and a total waste of a good plotline in Book's case, if there's to be another movie.

Heh, sorry, I always assume I'm the last one in on the secret.
