Henderson the Rain King- by Saul Bellows

Post by Avytaya »

hi all,
Just wondering if anyone here has read Henderson the Rain King by Saul Bellows. I'm about 1/3 ofthe way through and finding it to be quite an interesting read. Henderson is a real bastard (can I say bastard?), a oh- my-poor-suffering-soul type. (Remind you of anyone else you know???)
I hope he redeems himself. I know the book has some deeper philisophical intent, but I'm not seeing it yet.

The only Saul Bellow novel I've read is Seize the Day. I seem to recall a similar main character, who depressed the Hell out of me.
