James Gang rides again

(CNN) -- Joe Walsh is back with the James Gang -- at least for a trip around the United States.

The early-'70s band, with which Walsh had his first taste of national success, has reunited for a 2006 "James Gang Rides Again" tour. The group's most famous lineup -- Walsh, Dale Peters and Jim Fox -- is taking part.

The James Gang first hit it big with its second album (also called "Rides Again"), which featured the hit "Funk #49." The group's third album, "Thirds," spawned its biggest single, "Walk Away."

Walsh left the James Gang in 1972, recording the albums "Barnstorm," "The Smoker You Drink, the Player You Get" and two other albums before joining the Eagles in 1976 in time for that band's top-selling "Hotel California" album.

The group has previously reunited for concerts in its base of Cleveland, Ohio, as well as a 1996 appearance on "The Drew Carey Show."
Today is the most awesome day ever!

And here I thought this was a thread about Blur's "Song 2."
"It is not the literal past that rules us, save, possibly, in a biological sense. It is images of the past. Each new historical era mirrors itself in the picture and active mythology of its past or of a past borrowed from other cultures. It tests its sense of identity, of regress or new achievement against that past.”

Heh. Yeah, maybe the thread title could've been a bit more descriptive.

I'm the most ignorant slob ever - I knew about Walsh's solo career and of course his time with The Eagles, but the James Gang? Never heard of 'em.

You'd probably recognize "Walk Away" and "Funk 49".

Sleep all day, out all night
I know where you're goin'
I don't think that's actin' right
You don't think it's showin'
Jumpin' up, fallin' down
Don't misunderstand me
You don't think that I know your plan
What you try'n'-a hand me?
Out all night, sleep all day
I know what you're doin'
If you're gonna act that way
I think there's trouble brewin'
Funk 49.

hey Cail...lets turn this into a dedicated Joe thread!!!

:rockband:

Standin' in the runway
Wavin' at the plane
There goes everything you own
You called home collect
And they didn't know your name
Starin' at the telephone

You thought he was a doctor
Now he says he's not
But the nurses seem to tell for sure
And according to the symptoms
It isn't all you got
A shame they haven't found a cure

Didn't know the reason
You start to feel the rub
You know it isn't easy
Well, welcome to the club
Well, you thought they'd take it lightly

They're actin' kinda rash
Caught you in a loadin' zone
So they smile very politely
Relieved you of your cash
Suddenly you're all alone

You play the double agent
You bug eachother's phone
You got the place surrounded
There ain't nobody home

It's gettin' hard to please 'em
You start to feel the rub
You know it isn't easy
Well, welcome to the club
Come on and join us in the club
you're more advanced than a cockroach,
have you ever tried explaining yourself
to one of them?

Well a good man’s getting hard to find these days but there still a few around.
A whole world looks up to a good man, It’s hard to keep him down.
So if you’re going out looking for a good, good time,
But the boys all turn into clowns,
Focus your attention, don’t forget to mention,
No don’t forget to mention that the boys just love it when you dish it out.
Easy with the ones you’ve found.
And your wind up toys keep you busy for awhile until a good man comes around.

Well you can yell and scream, treat them mean, beat them up with words,
Throw them in the face you say. Do this, do that what it is, where it’s at, anything to get you your way.
And you change your mood, cop an attitude, take them to the cleaners.
Just because you’re steaming, just because you’re hot,
Just because all the boys stop talking when you raise your voice.
Your temper ends up on the ground, you don’t mean nothing to a good man.
It’s hard to keep a good man down, down, down, down.

Well it’s hard to keep a good man down.

Go to war, slam doors, have a fit, throw shit, use every little trick you’ve found.
It don’t mean nothing to a good man,
Just because all the boys start shaking when the dishes fly,
Tremble as they crawl on the ground.
Well it’s hard to keep a good,
Hard to keep a good man down.
Yes it’s hard to keep a good man down.

Have you ever seen yourself on TV
Well, I have
Have you ever been more famous than me
Well, I have
Have you ever been stung by a bee
Well, I have
Have you ever met Muhammad Ali
I have, I have

Have you ever had a case of the flu
Well, I have
Have you ever had to escape from a zoo
I have
Have you ever met the guys in The Who
Well, I have
I'm in Who's Who, are you
I am

Have you ever stood in line at the bank
Had an uncle named Frank
Have you ever rode around in a tank
I have

But I've never been to Fairbanks Alaska
That's the only place I've never been
Have you ever been everywhere else
I have, I have

Have you ever locked your keys in your car
Well, I have
Have you ever been thrown out of a bar
I have

But I've never shot eighteen under par
And I still don't know where all those balls are
Except the one that went in some doctor's car
One time in Lincoln Nebraska

And some day I'm going to Fairbanks Alaska
If it's the last thing I ever do
Have you ever done everything else
I have too, I have

It's time
It's about time we talked
We should -- that would be good
And in time
Maybe in time we'll learn -- to listen
Maybe in time we'll learn to talk
One at a time

When I was younger
The hurry up hunger -- of growin' up
Took up all of our time
And time and time again -- I find
That when everyone talks at the same time
Nothing gets done

In time
I hope that we learn in time
If only we could
That would be good

I'm concerned
One thing I've learned
Now that I'm older
Lookin' over my shoulder
As time goes on and on
When all your time is gone
Oh, all your time is gone
And it's about time we talk
Before we run out of time

Over and over

Just as plain as can be

Taken for granted

Out in the open

Easy to see

Taking my chances

I'm counting my shoes

I'm playing a game

Making it easy

Counting in two's

By the time you get started

You´re already through

Just a matter of time till it shows

Like reading the headlines

Yesterday's news

Over and over

That's how it goes

Or haven't you heard?

Talking so fast

Only at the same time

Searching for words

It's all about the same thing

Underneath the disguise

Just like they say

If you're looking for answers

Open your eyes

And sooner or later

It's easy to see

Just a matter of time till it shows

Like keeping a secret

Ev'ryone knows

Over and Over

Hey now, the well run dry

Pages of your book on fire

Read the writing

On the wall

Hoe down, it's a show-down

Ev'rywhere you look, we're fighting

Hear the call

And you know it's gettin' stronger

I can't last very much longer

Turn to stone

Well there's a change in the wind

You know the signs don't lie

Such a strange feelin'

And I don't know why it's takin'

Such a long time

Backyard people

And they work all day

Tired of the speeches and the way

That the reasons keep changin'

Just to make the words rhyme

And you know it's gettin' stronger

Can't make 'em run much longer

Turn to stone

I got the all night Laundry Mat blues
Washing everything I own except my shoes
I got makeup round the collar
And it smells like sweat
A dollar in the drier
And it ain't dry yet

If you wear clothes, you got to pay the dues
Sing the all night Laundry Mat blues
Yes you do
Sing the all night Laundry Mat blues
you're more advanced than a cockroach,
have you ever tried explaining yourself
to one of them?
