Bones

Post by Chrysalis »

I'm curious to see if anyone else has watched any of the new series Bones with David Boreanaz from Angel. I caught one on tv the other night and decided to read up a bit more about it.
It includes 'story lines inspired by the mind of forensic anthropologist and best-selling author Kathy Reichs' which caught my interest.

Bones costar, Emily Deschanels who plays Temperance Brennan, is the sister to Zoey Deschanels, who played Trillian on last summer's Hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy.

Saw an ep or two. Not bad, but crime-solver stories have never held my interest... unless the crime-solver has super powers. Hence my liking for third-rate stuff like The Sentinel and Forever Knight, but not CSI and all that other jazz.

What I saw of Bones gave the impression that this show is just playing catch-up to the longer-running forensic/crime dramas, with a hint of X-Files thrown in for kicks. Actually it's like a reverse, non-paranormal Mulder-and-Scully setup, when you think about it.

"Now if you remember all great paintings have an element of tragedy to them. Uh, for instance if you remember from last week, the unicorn was stuck on the aircraft carrier and couldn't get off. That was very sad. " - Kids in the Hall

I think their relationship is a bit more like a non-insane Addison-and-Hayes one myself.
