Will any of the Americans be watching the Soccer World Cup?
Four years ago, USA got quite far in the World Cup, and this time round have a very good team; some even think they may have a shot at the World Cup.
So I was just wondering, will any Americans be following the World Cup in Germany this year?

Well, Canada will likely never have a team qualify in my lifetime, so for the last 2 world cups I have been watching like a Canadian watches playoff hockey (well, OK, let's not get crazy) and rooting formy wife's home country: Ecuador!!!!!
Woo! And they have a good chance to move far this year. Go Delgado!!!

But if you're all about the destination, then take a fucking flight.
We're going nowhere slowly, but we're seeing all the sights.
And we're definitely going to hell, but we'll have all the best stories to tell.
Full of the heavens and time.

I'll be following it, but I don't have high hopes for the USA. It's a good team, but they have a tough group. If they are fortunate enough to get out of the group, they'd better win it or they'll likely face Brazil in the Round of 16.

American Football sucks... Such pussies, wearing all the equipment. Take it off and play like a real man.

A few of my friends play for a local side, so i've been and watched a couple of times.Reverendum wrote:Warmark wrote:dennisrwood wrote:not growing up with it. not knowing the rules. not knowing any players. lack of American players.![]()

I will be watching every match I can. The US does indeed have a brutal group, but I think they'll do just fine.
I played the game as a kid, so I've loved it for 30+ years. I have a great deal of difficulty sitting through an NFL game now because they're soooooo freakin' slow and the game's so chopped up (8 seconds of action followed by 45 seconds of standing around, followed by a commercial break every 4 minutes).

Australia has just qualified this year for the first time in like fifty years, so there is a big push for everything soccer in Aus at the moment, and ive spent some time in europe when the world cup is on so i know how fanatical real "football" followers are, Does America get serious about supporting their team? Will it be a big deal for you guys or is soccer one of those sports that wont really get much recognition until the American team wins, because up until last year soccer in Australia really didnt get that much notice,
I bite my tounge eveytime you come around cause blood in my mouth beats blood on the ground,
As a country, we just don't like the sport. Maybe because there aren't enough commercials and we can't pay attention for 45 minutes at a clip, maybe it's because the scores are low, maybe it's because no one here understands the offsides rule. I dunno, but I'll be watching it.
