Cannoli

Post by dANdeLION »

Okay, so Luci and I were having our semi-regular modly meeting and it's become fairly apparent that certain threads seem to get posted in by the same few people, and it might be stifling these certain threads, so, I thought I'd share our conversation in the hopes that some will take it to heart.
dAN says: so I guess I'll do a 'posting rules' thing in Vespers and maybe other mods'll want to use it in their forums if there are any 'heavy traffic' threads my rules will apply to....

Lucimay says: nice of you to talk it over with me before you post some obnoxious RULES, DAD.

dAN says: uh...I am talking with you right now, idiot

Lucimay says: I SAID NICE OF YOU, didn't i?

dAN says: basically, I want to say "If you see you have a large percentage of posts in a given page of a given thread, and when you look back and see it's the same thing on every page, then lighten up, ok?

Lucimay says: HAHAHAHAHA

dAN says: give others a chance to post, because others are probably avoiding it when they see a few have pretty much taken over there.

dAN says: so you like that?

Lucimay says: that will work...try to be NICE. heh

dAN says: that was an attempt at nice

Lucimay says: AHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAH

Lucimay says: you're hilarious

dAN says: I know it's not classy, like say, coming in 6-packs

Lucimay says: aha ha ha ha (cocktail laugh)

dAN says: but I think it gets the point across.

dAN says: oh, yeah. I'm gonna post a thing or 2 you said here, ok?

dAN says: in the rules thing

dAN says: if you don't like it, say so now, or just edit it

Lucimay says: ok. now what were you saying about cannoli?

dAN says: i said i hate them. shut up.

Lucimay says: but i thought you said...

dAN says: shut it.

Lucimay says: but..

dAN says: ssssst.

Lucimay says: o

Lucimay says: k
So there you have it.

Well, I don't think my rules come with brakes. They're not a car, after all.

I prefer thickets neatly trimmed.

I kept noticing that I saw someone posting every other time in a few threads today, so I posted in them, and, sure enough, a few minutes later, this person had posted again. Well, I got to thinking that I've glanced at this thread a lot during my time here, and I keep seeing the same name here, and frankly, I don't post there because I keep seeing the same name there....anyway, I may be the only one who even notices this, but I 'm not going to let that stop me from having an opinion about it...anyway, I have my pruning shears at the ready, but I'm hoping that I'll see some self-control so that I don't have to use them.

dear dAN,

you should have not left the cannoli comments in our dialogue. You know how that stuff makes me feel all funny inside.

The second problem with these threads is that they have very little content value. I have the feeling that most people just glance at a few titles, scroll to the end of the page, and post whatever it was they came to the thread for. I noticed the same thing when I was modding here. I tried creating alternative threads, like favorite lyrics discussion, but you see how far that went. *shrug*
"It is not the literal past that rules us, save, possibly, in a biological sense. It is images of the past. Each new historical era mirrors itself in the picture and active mythology of its past or of a past borrowed from other cultures. It tests its sense of identity, of regress or new achievement against that past.”

exactly Syl...which is why i thought threads about specific players and instrumentalists might spark more discussions about technique or style....alas, it did not.

i mean...it was fun naming all the best musicians i could think of (but considering the state of music in the last 15 years or so...that's gonna necessarily be a finite list, eh?!)

null speaking of himself in the 3rd person, and adding to the tonnage of the debate, is what I think you mean. I have to ask, do you refer to yourself in the 3rd person because you have 3 accounts here , or do you have no reason for it? If it's the former, that that would mean you put some thought ino it; it it's the latter, then you'd probably make a good drummer.:rockband:

no rhythm, no drumming.

null isn't me. so i refer to that aspect of who i am. oddly enough because of work more people call me sarge than by my given name. julie will sometimes call out sarge to get my attention.

i envy everyone who can play. i hear these songs in my head but will never be able to play them.

The cannoli is among humanity's greatest creations, and possibly proof of God. What is wrong with some people!

Still a man hears what he wants to hear
And disregards the rest

I, for one, am quite intrigued by what Luci may or may not do with a cannoli.

But then again, Cail's a wierdo.
