Eh, Superman's a dork. I watch the show for Lex. Too bad it looks like he's losing it.

I've tried repeatedly to watch Smallville but it hasn't caught on with me yet. I'll keep trying to sit and watch a full episode.

While I enjoy the Superman mythos quite a bit, I'm just not compelled to watch Smallville, as I feel I'm being mismarketed to.

I am not a teenaged girl or homosexual boy lusting after every opportunity to see the lead actor's soulful stares, or shirtless antics. And I'm not really enamored of the actress that plays Lana.

I have watched enough episodes to see that they are doing an excellent job of giving depth to Lex, which I approve of whole-heartedly. A great, complex villain is what makes the hero heroic. But not enough to wade through the heart-throb crap that dominates the show. It's on the WB. 'Nuff said. [forgive me Buffy, you were the one and only brilliant exception to the dross on that fledgling network, and you were given away!!!!]

Yep, Lex is the reason to watch the show! Very interesting interpretation of him.

And I gotta disagree about Lana. MAN, I'm enamored! I love the way she just kinda stands there!

Chole's hot, whatcha talking bout Willis? I like Lex's dad--he slimely, nasty! The season finale was cool (especially with a naked blond roaming around  ) The Kent family must have a great insurance company cause how many red pickup trucks can you destroy in 6 months? I like Smallville-I don't know why, I just do.

The last Smallville episode I saw was the one with Christopher Reeves. Was the story arc ever picked up again after his passing?

I just got season 4 on DVD... the story arc with Christopher Reeve was picked up after his passing - by none other than Margot Kidder, the Lois Lane of the Superman movies (I found it particularly nice that after she and Reeve worked together in those movies, they both were placed in the same storyline in Smallville). There is a line in episode 4-1 when her character - one of Dr. Swann's most trusted employees - hints at the fact that she is in love with Dr. Swann, and when Martha asks whether this is the case, she says "in a different lifetime"... I couldn't help but notice the in-joke about the two actors playing Clark Kent and Lois Lane in those Superman movies.

I think episode 4-4 was also dedicated to the memory of Christopher Reeve. And I got to admit that - despite what other fans have said - I liked season 4. There were several interesting episodes, we saw Kal-el fly, Lex has been losing it more and more, and we got Lois Lane - whose actress, truth be told, I find much better than Kristin Kreuk. It's probably because Erica Durance has that kind of mischievous face...

I love it. I don't like how they've changed the plot, (as far as I'm aware, Kal'el's pop wasn't a bad guy, wasn't the reason their world went ka-poot or anything like that...) but I deal so I can watch Lex.

I mean, come on! He doesn't want to do good things, he wants to do GREAT things! (My favorite line ever. Good episode, too.)

Unfortunantly, I haven't had a tv in a while, so I missed most of the latest season :( So I'll probably buy it when it comes out to catch up... along with 4 or 5 other series that I need to catch up on... I'm gonna be broke.

Well, Jor-El being good and not the cause of Krypton's destruction is part of the mythos, as I understand. But thus far I like the fact that the transition of Jor-El from seemingly bad guy to a little more "three-dimensional" figure is smooth and slow. I also enjoyed Lex's slow descent into evil in the last episodes of season 4.

Season 5 should be out by the end of August... and apparently the producers said there will be two more seasons before the end.

In a blast of irony, apparently the DVDs for Season 5 have been already released in Region 2 (and I already got them) whereas in the U.S. they should be out by September 12... I wonder why...

I thought the guy who was intended to play Aquaman on a new series ( the merged Network CW decided to pass on afterall) was the guy who played Oliver Queen in Smallville when he shows (ed) up?

I could be wrong, I don't watch the show personally. There was going to be an Aquaman Series, but, CW changed their mind. The guy who was supposed to play Aquaman I think has guest starred (or will be in the coming season) on Smallville as Oliver Queen

Actually, Arthur Curry showed up in an episode of Season 5. He was played by another actor than the one for the Aquaman pilot. Another episode of the same season featured Victor Stone (Cyborg). Back in Season 4, there was Barry Allen (Flash), and Season 6 is supposed to feature at least Oliver Queen. I suspect that, despite all the talk about having Clark Kent meet Bruce Wayne, this meeting will be saved by the producers for the last season, since it's definitely more important than any others so far.

I don't know much about DC characters, since I'm more of a Marvel follower, but I did like the way Aquaman was portrayed as an eco-terrorist :D Plus, the episode also gave a glimpse of the amoral Lex Luthor and his unhealthy interest in superhumans...
