Firefly by a long way, for reasons I stated in the Serenity thread in Flicks.

That said, I'm giving it a bit more thought and things are starting to make more sense than they did while I was watching it... I might give it another viewing next week some time.

I like Serenity more then Firefly, which I like more than Serenity.

While recovering from a rough week at work, I spent most of the day taking naps in my big overstuffed chair and watching episodes of Firefly. They were having some sort of marathon on the scifi channel. 8)

Man, what a good show. :D 8)

i agree.

serenity spoiler:
Spoiler
as for wash, i was told that the actor didn't want to return if the series was brought back, and that's why he was killed off. I don't know if that's true or not.... but it's something to go off.
and dlbpharmd, if there's a best buy near you... that's where i got mine. although, i'm sure you've looked... anyway, i also get a lot of my stuff on the amazon marketplace (used) so there's that, too.

I saw Serenity first. It certainly helps to see Firefly first.

If you're willing to buy it online, www.amazon.com has it for about $36, which is a pretty good price.

Firefly and Serenity

Post by taraswizard »

Firefly was an extraordinary TV series, cancelled by idiots who did not even try to understand what was happening.

I hold to the absolute opinion one does not need to see the TV series before seeing Serenity. However, most people I know after seeing the movie can hardly be restrainted from watching the TV series. They seemed to be so overcome by the movie, that they become ravenous for more and the only more that exists is Firefly.

Sorry for butting in.

i watched the movie last night. after a few minutes i realized i HAD seen one or two episodes of Firefly. i recognized the crew members.

i enjoyed Serenity. it's too bad the show was cancelled.

Crime of the century. The second worst crime is that the're isn't going to be another film, and the series is never going to be picked back up.

There's a movement afoot, along the lines of the one that brought back Star Trek. Folks are getting theatres to give special repeat viewings of Serenity - small theatres make money, folks get to support Whedon's 'lil dream, and Hollywood brass (eventually) may take notice... We've had several viewings in the last few months out here.

June 23 is Joss Whedon's birthday and to celebrate Firefly/Serenity fans, BTW these fans are known as 'Browncoats', arranged for charity screenings of the movie all over the world, the screenings were held as close to June 23 as possible. The screenings benefited 'Equality Now', one of Joss's favorite charities, an advocacy group founded in 1992 to protect and promote human rights for women all over world, and Joss's mom, Lee Stearns, was involved in the founding of Equality Now.

These charity events started to be organized in April. Then about one week before the screenings I read an internet pundit making up the story (IOW, he pulled it out of his ass) that these screenings were organized to influence Universal/GE to make another movie. The screenings were organized for two puposes: 1) celebrate Joss's birthday and 2)raise money for Equality Now.

Grrrr. I must've got the "story" from a local reporter who also "just pulled it out of his ass." I wonder if he actually interviewed the fans and organizers he quoted?

Maybe it's a seperate deal?
