It was really quiet at work last night, so I got to finish it off.
I was extremely impressed - are the authors sure that they are not professionals just posing as amateurs? Those stories are better than some I have read in professionally written and edited stories I have read in anthologies from major publishing companies.
i'm at Khaliban's story now...'bout 3/4's of the way through...will finish tonight.

I've read a lot of the Anthology while working on the project but I had promised myself I'd wait to read it in its entirety once I got a copy of the finished product. I of course have of a copy of the finished pdf, tempting. I feel like I'm falling behind everyone else. Gotta get a book!
"If you can't tell the difference, what difference does it make?"
Impression: LOTS of good stuff. I liked all the stories, to varying degrees. Nameday actually got me all choked up. Adrift was brilliant, and A God for Athiests really creeped me out. I keep looking out of the corner of my eye for gray statues. When I have more time (i.e., when I'm not nodding off because it's 1:57 AM) I'd like to write a brief paragraph on each story, discussing particular points of interest, my impressions, and questions for the authors.
I absolutely loved Aliantha's story. It had a bit of a Mckillipish/LeGuinish flavor to it (and that is very high praise indeed coming from me) but told in her own voice. I hope she will share more of her work with us.
i finished the week i got it....i'm waitin for the new thinner version which i've ordered for drew and myself...should be here any day now driver.

Well...I finished the whole anthology over the past few days. I had a 2 day business trip to San Antonio run into a 4 day trip, so needless to say, I finally had some time to do some catching up.
First of all...in all seriousness...I am proud and feel privelaged to have one of my submissions make it to the final cut, especially after reading everyone else's contributions. Truly, what a diverse assortment of talent that we have assembled here on the Watch.
While all of the contributions were all very good, there were a few that really stood out to me as a cut above, and I think that deserve special recognition.
But truly...what a great collection of talent, congatulations go out to all who were involved in all steps of the building of the first Kevin's Watch Anthology.
A God for Atheists...truly exceptional.
Scorn...what a great ending...did not see that one coming.
The Story...a truly wonderful way to anchor the Anthology.
The Creed...great detail and substance to Krele Kest, especially for a short story.
Sandcastles...just a truly beautiful piece of work.
Again...thanks to everybody for a fantastic collection.

I agree, the ending of Scorn is excellent and thoroughly unexpected.
And just because dAN doesn't do things the conventional way doesn't mean he isn't a writer. As soon as I read The Story I knew it had to be the finale.
In case anyone didn't guess, I read the Anthology.

And you not only read it, but did a bang up job of editing it, too. Couldn't have been easy, working with that many authors, and I think that Joy deserves a round of applause!!!
