MAD

Post by drew »

..is this still around?

I loved MAD magazine...I'm sure I had over a hundred of them.
I used to buy old ones at garage sales, and any paperback I coult get my hands on too.

Even if you never saw the movie or TV sow they were making fun of..I still usually found it hillarious.

Don Martin, Sergio --something or other--(the guy who drew the margionals), The lighter side of... guy were some of the best; Of course Spy vs Spy was classic...but my favorite was certainly Al Jaffee -snappy answers to stupid questions, and he did the folding back pages too, )my first taste of social satire)
I thought you were a ripe grape
a cabernet sauvignon
a bottle in the cellar
the kind you keep for a really long time

Pretty sure it's still around. Don't think Cracked is, though, which I always preferred to Mad.
"It is not the literal past that rules us, save, possibly, in a biological sense. It is images of the past. Each new historical era mirrors itself in the picture and active mythology of its past or of a past borrowed from other cultures. It tests its sense of identity, of regress or new achievement against that past.”

I loved MAD, don't remember why or how I stopped buying it.

I do--The Hulk became too expensive, so...loved Mad especially the back fold-in feature, silly as hell Don Martin stuff and, of course, Spy v. Spy!
