Yeah, I'm feeling a litle tingly myself.
And definately check out Wolfmother, Cov. It's a fun album, and the boys got potential.

Re: Syl's Recommendations
I've never heard Ween, but their inclusion on the list struck something I read this week.Lord Foul wrote:Caer Sylvanus wrote: Ween
This quote was from an over view of last weekend's Lollapalooza in Chicago, in the Chicago Sun-Times
So are they any good?.....Wrapping up the day in Hutchinson Field were musical terrorists Ween, who have survived countless musical transformations -- all of them bizarre -- en route from a basement four-track duo to one of the most popular groups on the jam-band scene. (I've never understood these weirdos' popularity in that world, but bassist Dave Dreiwitz told me it all started when Phish covered a Ween tune.)

Sure. It's more of a question of 'consistently good.' They've played in just about every style you can think of. I'd recommend picking up Quebec to see if you like them.

Re: Syl's Recommendations
These are the groups I'm familiar with. I don't have cds by all of them, but I've at least heard their music and pretty much like them all (or at least don't hate them.)Syl wrote: The picks -
A Perfect Circle
Alice in Chains
GnR
NIN
Pearl Jam
Queens of the Stone Age
Toadies
Tool
Ween
NIN, Pearl Jam, and A Perfect Circle stand out for me.
Now that I have a fast connection and finally got a new computer I'm going to spend some time playing around with limewire and check out some of the other bands.
Syl seems to have pretty cool tastes in music and books, so I figure it's worth my time to at least download some of the other bands. See what they're all about.

Speaking of fun and potential, I recommend a band called The Answer. They're a British band, but they sound like a hybrid of Young Heart Attack and Guns n Roses. Good stuff. For downloading purposes, I'd suggest Come Follow Me or Never Too Late.Syl wrote:And definately check out Wolfmother, Cov. It's a fun album, and the boys got potential.

Variety's overrated.
Seriously, there's a lot of variety there, just not much outside of rock. What can I say? I hate pop, r&b, modern country, and most rap.
Hmm, ok... some rap recommendations:
Tupac
Ice Cube
Wu Tang
Eminem
Wyclef
Folk?
The Chieftans
Great Big Sea
this album
Classical... not much, really. Bartok and Stravinsky, maybe.

TooL's on the list...and that's all that matters.
Seriously, of the ones i knew, good list and i love al in chains too. pearl jam though? granted i haven't heard their new album, but i know when it came out (about the same time as TooL's 10,000 Days), PJ was on SNL and it sounded just like the stuff they did in the 90s. but, maybe it isn't fair of me to make that judgement based on one song.
