MM-Those are two great films. I actually read the Outland book before I saw the film and I absolutely loved it. The Warriors is a surreal nightmare.

Final verdict: Undertow was very well done, the young actor: outstanding (Jamie Bell, British, best known for the acclaimed Billy Eliot), great performances, great cinematography-worth the nickle. GREAT music by Phillip Glass (got a little haughty near the end)! What knocks it down from an A to a B? Too fricking long...

I read the novel as well (though I don't remember much of it now). I also had a "photonovel" of the movie, back when that format was more common. Too bad I don't have it anymore. Watching Beyond the Sea with Kevin Spacey as Bobby Darin--awesome--like Phoenix as Cash and Foxx as Ray Charles another actor blows us away vocally!!!

Dumb question, but what's the difference between this thread and the "What's playing" thread? 
Anyway, finally bought The Constant Gardener (cheap previewed copy, of course) and watched it again. This movie has really grown on me. Depressing and inspiring at the same time. I just wish the DVD had an audio commentary track.
Just please don't ask me to read John Le Carre's book. The length of his books scare me as much as Stephen King's.

I think the original goal of this thread was to talk about DVDs you bought--I did just buy By the Sea, The Family Stone and The Wedding Crashers (well, actually it was cheaper for me to buy WC as I hid it from the kids a month ago and couldn't figure out what happened to it- Tam found it the other day...

Thanks for the reply, danlo. I'm on a pretty tight budget myself, which is why I buy second-hand DVDs more often than not. The copy of The Constant Gardener I bought had quite a few serious-looking scratches on it, but it still played okay, save for a minor hiccup.
Scored a nice "3 for $24" deal on these pre-viewed titles: A History of Violence, Good Night and Good Luck, and Capote.
Watched Good Night and Good Luck. I swear, it's one of the most gorgeous black-and-white photographed movies I've ever seen! Everything is razor sharp. Compelling story, too, of course. David Strathairn just plain rules as Edward R. Murrow.
Too bad the sole bonus feature on the DVD is an audio commentary track by director George Clooney and producer Grant Heslov -- but that's the one extra I'm always after anyway. Will listen to it tomorrow.

HMV has a 3 for £20 offer on some titles, which is just an amazing deal: I got Lady Vengeance, which I was going to buy anyway, priced £19.99, and with this deal, I also got Sin City and Batman Begins for just 1p more (both films that I liked, but probably wouldn't have bought if not for this offer).
