I preferred the Iliad.
"Fortunate circumstances do not equate to high ideals."

"Mostly muffins sir."- My answer in response to the question posed by the officer, "Son, do you have anything on you I should know about?"

His response: "Holy $&!^. He's not kidding! Look at all these muffins!"

A map of Eiran has been uploaded: you can find it in the first post of the Game Thread, below the Pantheon Statistics.

Before you ask: red cities are aligned with a god, black cities aren't (yet).

So, do we state where our 'action' is taking place on the world map and claim a piece?

Also, when the Allfather tells us what may affect us before a turn, I assume these are ongoing things? - we don't necessarily have to drop everything to deal with it on THAT turn, do we?

Yes, if you state WHERE you're taking action, it would be good. As for what affects you, some things may be ongoing, some of them may be one-shot, which means that if you don't affect them the turn in which you learn of them, you won't be able to control their outcome at all. It's up to you to decide whether an event with an unclear duration should be immediately affected by you, or not...

Any chance we could get a list identifying which god has influence in which cities like last time?
(Sorry I haven't sent my moves yet--been moving into the new accomodation today, haven't had time. Will send soon. I would like to know one thing though--the location of the Lord-General's army on the new map (or can I decide that myself?).)

The list will be up after I calculate the moves for the turn, tomorrow... As for the location of the Lord-General's army, it was near the town of Archel.

Great map!

Along the same lines, should I claim a spot for the locationf of the army of my Prophet, or just let you pick?

Excellent map, Xar!
"Oh of course," the Navigator said with faint mocking in his voice, "you have probably heard of House Praetus. We have a palace on Holy Terra. Like all powerful groups, we also have our enemies. Do you honestly think someone like you matters?" - A dissolute noble.

Don't suppose we could try two turns a week for a while?

Let's first get used to the one turn/week schedule. Some people might already find that schedule enough for their tastes, and in any case at the moment it seems my work schedule is quite busy, so if we tried two turns/week I'd be perpetually late in sending updates.

I agree one turn a week is enough at present - It'd be nice to have more, but not practical!

After noticing a couple of things, I feel the need to explicitly state something which is quite important for all of you; I'll also post this information in the rules post at the beginning of this thread.

Your Prophet is, in many ways, your worldly voice and extension of your will. He (or she) acts following your orders and focuses on fulfilling your commands. He also may, or may not have minor powers derived from his faith or bestowed upon him by his god(dess) - Kjoller's ripening effect, for example, comes to mind.

Nevertheless, your Prophet is the single most important figure in your religion. If your Prophet is slain, you may of course choose another, but to imbue a new Prophet, elevating him above your other followers, you will need to expend one Divine Rank point. Thus, killing another god's Prophet is a possible way to hinder his actions.

Because Prophets are so important and so exalted, they cannot hide from the eyes of other gods like most other followers can: each god knows if and when another god's Prophet is approaching areas he is interested in. For example, Vadhaka would immediately know it if Jameak sailed towards Shama. You may hide your Prophet's presence from your divine brethren, but you must spend Divine Rank points to do so as if you were trying to hide your own actions, and if another deity suspects your Prophet might be there, he may choose to use Divine Rank points to attempt and break your cloaking power.

So why bother with a Prophet? Because a Prophet is a catalyst: around the Prophet, people convert more easily and more frequently, miracles are easier, and the Prophet acts as the temporal leader of your church, thus relaying your orders to the general following. Obviously you can do without a Prophet, but you will find that having a Prophet on site when you want to use DRPs to do something will allow you to do more than normal with the same DRP expenditure.

Edit: In other news, the Pantheon statistics at the beginning of the game thread now include links to PM each of the deities without having to seek one of their posts.

I'd love two turns a week, but to be honest, it really cuts down on the time I have to communicate with others (and await their response, especially given time differences).

The real question of course is what has Xar noticed that causes him to post that...*Hmmmmm...*
