time frame

Post by Dromond »

Actually, there's 4 and 1/2 weeks between the end of LFB and TIW (maybe 5 weeks ,depending on pov) Now if 35 days amount to 40 years, that's a rounded average of 1 day =1 year. pretty close, anyways.

Some one, (Cammora I think, ) first said 1 day 1 year is nice and tidy. I beleive Cammora is right. Consider: Ten years pass for TC between chronicles. 10 yrs.=3650 days. He says somewhere in 2nd chronicles that the time passed is somewhere between 3000-4000 yrs. 3600yrs. sounds kinda tidy. Anyone?

Things I would like to see:

The room in Revelstone (can't remember the name dangit) that housed the treasures of the land sent to the Lords... with several thousand years of additional "stuff" in it.

A restored Coerci filled with Giants again, perhaps with active trade to other parts of the world. Doubtlessly they would also help "restore" Revelstone... perhaps even modify/improve it.

The Elohim revisited... I never fully understood the Vain - Elohim thing. Vain's purpose was never really explained, and, it's just me, but I don't think dragging an Elohim into lava was it. One of my friends thinks it was... he had to to keep the Elohim from stopping Covenant... just seems to shallow to me. I really hated the Elohim the first time I read the books...

Ranyhyn... hordes of them. :)

Lastly... a new Lore... something that strikes a balance between absolute power and absolute servitude. One that enriches the land by way of balancing the good and the bad. The innocence of the Land has been lost, now it has to mature.

For someone who wasn't sure how much you'd be able to contribute, you seem to have started off on a good foot, Davin! :D

I for one would like to see how the Haruchai would have evolved without the vow.

The Haruchai without a Vow...

The Haruchai would be better and worse fighters without a Vow I bet. Worse because they will now think twice about how and where they fight... not quite so eager to give up their own lives. And yet, if they fight with passion and recklessnes... in defense of something they love or hate, they will be far more extravagent in battle. However, while they no longer have their original Vow, Covenant left them a new one in the form of Revelstone. Serving a thing, a piece of rock if you will, may simply harden them beyond their previous dispassion.

It would also be nice to get a better glimpse of the Haruchai homeland. Perhaps Nom visits there and Haruchai and Sandgorgons conduct combat training together. :)

I believe, Davin, you were referring to the Hall of Gifts.
I cant wait to see what the SoL, Sunder, "Dead" Hollian, the orcrest, and the krill are going to do. My point for a post-Sunbane Land in the 3rd Chronicles- theres NO leadership!

On the contrary, I see Linden bearing TC's child and being summonsed to the Land where he does battle with Roger :)

That would put TC in a bind - considering that I figure he himself is now an integral part of the land - infused into it somehow.

Definitely more Nom and the Haruchai. The ancient heroes of the land would very interesting. Especially a novelle devoted to Kevin Landwaster with Foul charading as a mortal being.

Also a story depicting the time of the three mortal spoilers of the land whom would later become the Ravers. Giants would be great, Foamfollower became a dear friend of mine. The Giants kick arse like the Haruchai/Bloodguard.

Better yet, I would love SRD to write an anthology novel devoted to nothing but tales of the Land, past and future tense. :D

That would be awesome Vain! I like that idea very much. Very ironic twist. It would be a natural step into the third chronicles. I like! :)

I don't believe that Linden can bear Covenant's child because they did not mate in our world.

Covenant's leprosy was not healed when he returned to our world after LFB and TIW. Similiarly, he was always re-injured in the Land in ways to match his "real-world" state.

Donaldson always left the option open that the land is not real.

What you say is right HLP but for one thing .. where LA and TC are concerned .. there relationship is the one anomaly to the premise that the Land is not real ..

As you say whenever TC returned to our world regardless of what he had experienced his situation aligned itself to his our-world reality. His leprosy returned even though in LFB he had received some healing .. his impotence returned .. etc..

But when Linden returned to our world ... she was wearing TC's ring!!

.. the ring she had recieved in Mount Thunder from TC .. that she did not possess prior to her translation to the Land behind Haven Farm.

When it comes to LA and TC .. if she can on her return to our world - possess TC's ring .. then she can possess TC's child ..

I think it would be an interesting plot development if this was so .. I would love to see LA's child and [an understandably embittered] Roger battle in the Land.
