Lent TRS to my mate.....

Post by ramus »

He is a 100 pages in and already he is saying it is the sickest book he has ever read. I dont think he can read any more as he has moved onto other books. I keep trying to tell him to stick with it, as it pays off in the end but he is having none of it. Dont know what to suggest to get him back into it.......

which men miscall their lives:
for all the scents of green things growing,
each breath is but an exhalation of the grave.
Boddies jerk like puppet corpses,
and hell walks laughing---

I say let it go. If he reads the book under duress he won't get any enjoyment from it.

There's just no accounting for some people's taste, or lack thereof. Your mate probably likes Jane Austen books better...

The Real Story can be extremely disturbing to some readers. (I know that because I found it to be so). I made it through because I had read everything else SRD had written and I trusted him as a writer to find some redemption for at least some of the characters.

If I had never read any of his other stuff, I might not have gone onwards with it.

Ramus, perhaps you could start out with some of SRD's other writings and slowly bring your partner back to the Gap? :?

You know its funny but I thought the same, however he is not really a fantasy reader. Having said that everyone I have lent TC to has not been a fantasy reader per se and has really enjoyed them. I think I might give that a go!

Plus he is not my partner, clue was in the subject... 8O
