Opening new browser windows.

Post by Trapper »

My apologies, as this is not a Watch-specific question.

I've just upgraded to broadband. I have AVG anti-virus.

When I right-click and try to "Open Link in New Window" I get a "thunk" noise and it doesn't work unless I repeat that action 4-5 times.

What's up with that?

Should I enable all pop-ups or something? (Not that I'm even sure how to do that.)

If I've expressly told my PC that I want to access that link, my feeling is that it should do what I tell it to...

Sounds like a popup blocker bug. Since the menu says "Open Link in New Window" I'll guess you're not using IE, so we can't blame it on that... Hmm.
I remember I used to get it when I clicked a link that opened in a new window, but I can't remember why it stopped, heh. For the sites that you use more often, it's worth putting them on your "allowed sites" list to avoid this (on Firefox, popup stuff is in Tools>Options>Content; other if it's a different browser you'll have to look around for it yourself).

Opening a link in a new window is EXACTLY what a pop-up is.

(And most links people put in posts with [url] open in a new window all by themselves.)

Any decent popup blocker includes a way to exclude certain sites from being blocked. Put Kevin's Watch in yours.

IE says "Open in New Window". Drops the word "link".
