HIGH FIVE! The Borat Thread

Post by A Gunslinger »

I saw Borat this weekend. Man was it great!!!! It was the best comedy (and most intellectually challenging) I have seen in years!!!

It was like watching a super-raucous episode of "All in the Family". But with no Michael Stivic to counter the un PC stuff on the screen. The AUDIENCE has to play that role, and decide what they think.

It is ground breaking, bold stuff. A must see! What do you think, y'all?

My brother, boyfriend and I all saw it this weekend....I thought I was going to pee myself. I haven't laughed that hard...EVER! It really makes you think too!

Bravo Sacha!

I was in absolute tears and groans throughout. If we can't laugh at ourselves and see where true bigotry resides... what hope do we have to eliminate it, right?

Wow. Lots of critical praise for this film.

I think I'll try to watch this one Friday with my friend Seth. We'll laugh our arses off.

Yup its brilliant, some parts i could not stop lauging at.
But if you're all about the destination, then take a fucking flight.
We're going nowhere slowly, but we're seeing all the sights.
And we're definitely going to hell, but we'll have all the best stories to tell.

Brilliant, wonderful, funny movie.

Except the parts where my countrymen made me die a little inside....

/sigh

But best movie I've seen all year, hands down.

Apparantly the country of Kazakhstan havn't found it overly amusing.

If David Spade were still around, he'd say, "Yeah, I liked it fifteen years ago...when it ws called 'What A Country.'"

I remember when no one had even heard of Borat. He was a guy from Kazakhstan going around Britain to teach the people of Kazakhstanabout Britian(best one was when he went to Cambridge Uni). Just an add-on to was a great Ali-Gi show. I found him funny and so did many but not many people knew about him. Now he is really popular. I am sure I will see the movie.

Huge fan of Da Ali G Show. I've always liked Ali G more than Borat, but jeeze, Borat is outrageously funny. "In Kazakhstan, hobbies include disco dancing, archery, rape, and table tennis."

He also added in a recent interview that in recent times, archery has become less popular a pastime because his country was 'moving into the modern era'

loved the film.

I won't say it was the best comedy I ever have seen, Young Frankenstein and History of the World: Part I to me were better, but it was very good.

There were classic moments:
Spoiler
The look on Bob Barr's face when he was told what the cheese was made from. The pictures from home. The fate of the bear.
Looking back, I was amazed as much at the patience that a lot of people showed with him, well maybe not a lot of New Yorkers did, but most others. Sure, a few looked like fools, but I was suprised as much by those he didn't get a rise out of:
Spoiler
He didn't get much out of Alan Keyes; and the car salesman, though he knew what Borat was looking for by the term he used, wouldn't use the term himself. And the Pentacostals came off looking pretty good. They accepted him for what he was.

On topic...I hate Sacha Baron Cohen. He annoys me to the point of inducing indigestion and irregularity of the bowel.

Were they the ones he was having the dinner party with? Cause they sure weren't accepting of the lady he brought over. Really now... for as much patience as they showed Borat, you'd think they could handle a hooker.

Spoiler
Duh, my bad! :)

Yeah, they were pretty good to him... saving his soul and such. Despite me going "ewww" the whole time, it was still kinda sweet of them.

What really bugged me, even more than naked hairy men, was the RV full of frat boys... they made me sad. Or maybe all frat boys just become bigots when they're drunk? I dunno.... Anyway, it was sad and I'm glad Borat got off the RV when he did.
