Thank you Sarge. That pic is very interesting....

Anyway, for the FBH fan club, here's a rundown of the evening.

Julie picked Steve up from the airport and when they came up the stairs to the house I opened the door and happy birthday singing from Steve ensued. Hugs were exchanged and we talked a little about what he would like to do in the expert sequences. I told him that I had FINALLY joined the watch and said I was learning so much and said that I had no idea Thoolah even existed thinking that he probably knew but apparently he didn't so I had to explain it. I did make sure to tell him that it started as a joke. Then I told him about my pillow fight conversations and he laughed and said that they ARE appropriate considering that there is a PILLOW FIGHT in "Mirror of Her Dreams." Note to self...must start pillow fight thread on Mordant's Need forum. We then headed out to dinner and over dinner we talked about family and what was currently going on in our lives, basically the traditional catch up convos. After dinner it was back to the house where the magic happens. We got home to find that Terry aka Atrium/Karotica/Retarded Ranynin/Unknown Woman and our watch friend Lucimay were inside and hanging out. Introductions were made between Luc and SRD and conversation ensued. I gave a bit of a rundown on what was the vision for the ACTION sequence filming the following day. We went over the bunch of props that Steve brought for the expert part, we discussed some visions that he had for it, negotiated and then Lucimay and SRD talked intellectually for a bit while I smoked in my open air smoking lounge and the girls were primping or as I usually call it, "getting tarted up." We then went in for filming and went over the intro bits before filming. Filming went spectacularly and I must say that Lucimay did a great job of choking back her laughter...and Lucimay...NO spoilers. Then after filming, some more convo ensued, then Jules took Steve to his hotel and Lucimay home. All in all the most perfect birthday EVER...

Actually, he thought THOOLAH was very funny and he said something along the lines of he doesn't write characters so you all will LIKE them, he writes them because they are needed in the STORY..heheheh. GAH I am so reminded of why I adore him...he's so fabulous.

I forgot to state that ONCE again I am new to this forum thing. I had no idea he didn't know. He did bust up once I told him that THOOLAH stood for "The Holy Order OF Linden Avery Haters." I think his actual comment was, "Really? Seriously? Wow, that's amazing."

You are absolutely right. He doesn't on purpose because he is afraid he might get caught up in fan speculation and thus alter the books. I had been erroneously informed that he did check in.

Ah WHAT FUN AHHHH! What a wonderful way to celebrate your birthday. I hope there were pictures. I hope very much someone took pictures.

And I hope I manage to find the thread when they're posted, unlike last time. *blush*

Ugh, that must have been me. :( I read here that SRD had an anonymous login and that he had posted a few times -- I wasn't completely clear on how much he read/didn't read until recently. Sorry I gave you bad poop, Jenn!

There's more where that came from, actually, if I can get out of this hole with my job-job. Which I should be doing this instant. *creeps away*

Well anyway, we did manage to crack him up totally and get him flustered a few times and of COURSE we had a couple moments where the question was asked and he had to pause and regroup himself and then look back and forth at the girls and say again, "Seriously? THAT'S your question?" GAH I love him so much. I am gonna say this here and now. SRD is just amazing and smart and charming and funny and has such a fabulous sense of humor. When you guys get to see the show you are gonna be BLOWN AWAY by how fabulous he is. FBH and SRD is TLA....

well. sheesh. not much to add to jenn's accounting here.

the most amazing thing; how SRD answered the julie and heatherly's questions!!

things to look for in the episode:

arch of time discussion!! (omg, heatherly was fabulous!!)

why don't Covenant and Lord Foul like each other discussion.

why leprosy as opposed to tourettes?

who's your favorite character? (i wish you could have heard the 30 second comPLETE SILENCE when julie, who hasn't read any of the other books answered "Joan! Joan's nice!" )

although the show is high parody and is MAJORLY funny, there were moments, during filming, when all of us in the room (terry, julie, heatherly, me, and jenn) were just completely facinated with our jaws hanging open at SRD's sincere "unpacking" of his own work. it was a great thrill to listen to him talk about the book and the characters and listen kids, the man is SERIOUSLY DEADLY FUNNY!!!

after filiming, in Jenn's smoking room, we smoked and talked over highlights of the filming and FBH in general. Donaldson said he knows a lot of writers and he can't imagine ANY of the writers he knows condoning, much less taking part in, a show like this parodying their work.
i said i thought Erikson would, and he said that, although Erikson has a GREAT sense of humor, he is very very shy and would probably freeze up!

and...lastly, i've told a couple of you already but...i gave SRD a present.
I took him some See's Candies California Brittle, which he seemed very happy to have, and,

i gave him my extra copy of the KW Anthology!! (no drew, not your copy)

i told him i wanted to give him something from the whole Watch and that i thought the writers in the Anthology would really enjoy knowing that their work was on HIS shelf, considering how much of HIS work is on theirs!
he was grateful and exceedingly gracious and i think, very PLEASED to have it. he said he was "a little afraid"!! and at the time i didn't really understand that comment, but thinking about it, HAH! i didn't tell him what the stories were, just that we submitted to a small selection committee and chose a few pieces and put them in an anthology so all the members could have them. now i realize he was probably concerned that they were paraody stories or something.
i think he will be seriously and pleasantly surprised when he reads your work people!

and lastly, i just want to say that it was such a PLEASURE to work with these women. Jenn, Julie, Heatherly, and Terry were UBER professional and gracious and fun and i hope beyond hope i'll get to work with them again!! i know why SRD was there last night. it's because these women are enthusiastic and intelligent and fun to be around.

i had a blast and i think SRD did too!
