i, for one, have never been convinced of Holloway's qualifications for the role.

he's just not dangerously good looking enough.

try THIS on for size....

Sorry about being too lazy to read the entire thread. Here are some casting suggestions:

Angus: Vincent D'Nofrio
Hashi: Gary Oldman
Milos: Gary Sinese, perhaps Bruce Willis
Warden: Terrance Stamp, perhaps Lance Henrieksen?
Holt: Donald Sutherland
Min Donner: Kate Blanchet
Vector Hasheed: Ian Holm, perhaps Colm Meaney
Nick: Joah Holloway
Morn: Sarah Polley
Sib: Topher Grace

Thoughts?

Lance Henriksen as Warden is brilliant.

Holloway would indeed be perfect. You have to have a drawl. And you have to do it sardonically. And yeah, he looks the part.

If Jack Black were 10-20 years older, he'd at least look like Angus. But he's too old to play Davies, too. Oh well, too silly in either case.

Morn is exceptionally hard to mentally cast. the need for acting range, beuaty and toughness is hard to come by. Sarah Polley is a good choice I think.

Guns, most of your list I'm happy with.... but I disagree with Donald Sutherland as Holt Fasner.

I always pictured him being artificially younger... more like Christian Bale - with makeup to make him look like he was older and hiding it. Kind of like a Victor-Victoria, but done with age instead of gender?

Josh Hallowy as Nick? Good lord. I thought you women loved Josh. Why would you want him to portray a murderous, vengeful, raping, narcissistic piece of debris like Nick? Because he's cute? This would be a stupid career move for Josh; do you girls really think he's that stupid? Nick sickens me; find an actor who can make Nick come to life; someone who can make me hate and pity him, not just some pretty boy who makes girls lose all sense of reality......

Holloway could do it. There's not too terribly much complexity to Nick, and the character is fairly similar to the one JH plays on Lost. A lota big talk, but underneath...insecurity.

Yeah, but Josh is a weenie. No real Gap fan could take him seriously.

I have a weird idea about Nick. I think that Tom Cruise would absolutely be the most perfect actor.

Boo here. ... ... ... Done? OK.

I don't pick actors because they are names. In fact, the more name they are, the more I don't pick them. But I make an exception here.

Cruise is perfect because he is irresistable to women (to some, anyway), he can poor out charming like it's no tomorrow (a Nick staple), and most importantly, it's all veneer, and when the veneer comes off he can be a total bastard - he makes you want to punch his smile right into his nose. He's the kind of guy that when it all falls apart and the pretenses fall he gets REAL ugly.

Holloway may be attractive (to some anyway), and can maybe play a tough guy (but only as a masochist), but doesn't cover as many bases IMO.

That's a pretty sweeping, and frankly, stunning accusation to put out there, dAN. Everyone is entitled to their opinion here, hopefully without any judgement as to the quality of the poster's "fandom".

Moreover, even using his name has been known to cause rectal cancer. Quite frankly, in the neme of public health, we should ban all references to this "actor".

Wayfriend-good call on Cruise. You can see some of what you're talking about in Collateral.
