Sequel(s)?

Post by Sorus »

Okay, it's unlikely in the extreme.

I myself am satisfied by the way the series ended.

There is room for a sequel.

I want more Gap books!

What I would really like to see is a prequel, though SRD has said that's one thing he will definitely never write, and I understand his reasons.

What do you think?

Leave things as they are?

Continue following the story? What part of the story would you be interested in seeing continued?

What about a series set in the same universe, but further in the future with completely different characters?

Oh, a change is coming, feel these doors now closing
Is there no world for tomorrow, if we wait for today?

A sprequill would proebly suck...we know all the past pretty much.

A sequill would be Kick-Axe.

There are so many lose ends.
What about all that stuff Deaner learned about Balck holes?
what will Angus do now?
What will the Amnion do now?
What will the GCES do now?

I think a story where Mikka is the main charactor, would be a great start.

I figure Angus will kind of start like a new Billingate or something.

You'd think that the Amnion now, would use a little more force than they used to, the GCESP can't be everywhere at once you know.

I like that idea also.
Have a few run-ins with Agnus and/or Amnion.
Maybe a few adventures delivering the anti-mutagen while
in Amnion space. (Forbidden Zones)

I'm in that waffly camp that wants no sequal because the first series was perfect in telling the story that HAD to be told, yet a part of me is curious.
The 'problem' is that the first series is about people (Morn, Angus and Warden, I think being the primary characters), using the highly charge sci-fi political realm with aliens as a suitable backdrop to tell their story. A sequal would likely be just interesting on a 'minor' level of "what happens between the humans and Amnion now?"... Which is really teh secondary point of the whole thing.
Morn will heal (we dearly hope), Warden is gone, and Angus is 'redeemed' (using that loosely) and flying around, trying to keep under the radar of society. That's all really need to know as a suitable ending to that series (in my humble opinion).

...still, i AM curious...

i'd like both! prequel and sequel!

i'd love to have the whole Viable Dreams and Angus story!! flesh out Marc Vestibule character and an opportunity to see more human/amnion interaction.

AND i love the idea of a whole Mikka sequel!! i liked her a lot (well, i liked her from the point where she begins to help Morn).

i haven't quite finished the last book yet but i would like to see what happens to Min, Hashi, and Koina!

I would be all for a sequel to the Gap.

Personally, I think it would be awesome if we had not seen the last of the Dragon.

With his vast resources and recent interest in the matter, who is to say that he would not have been informed of a certain failsafe word that would have stopped Angus dead. Literally.

Holt's death is never made explicit in TDAGD. All we have are the scene where Angus is (we assume) about to kill him, and then Angus' good bye letter.

If Holt lived, he could quite feasibly (with the aid of the Amnion) come back as a greater threat than ever before.

I say no. I think a plausible, interesting story could be made, but...I feel like SRD made his point with the series. Moreover, he gave a strong sense of closure, I felt like Angus was the only loose end. When he's done with Chronicles...something new, perhaps. More short stories.

Pretty sure that's a dead end for our favorite manipulator to continue his reign. When angus got messed with the command words stopped affecting him. Unless you think Warden put another one to his 'base coding' (like being unable to harm Morn IIRC) or whatever specifically for Holt to use.

No! Milking something good usually just destroys it. Leave the thing alone.

Yeah...as it is, the Gap series was probably the most perfect thing I've ever read.

It couldn't possibly get any better.

Plus, knowing SRD, he would probably add Linden Avery as a character in the new Gap series, just to piss me off.

I was going to write the exact same thing, but then I realised that Morn is about 100 times tougher than Linden. Hence my actual post.

Agreed.

I'd like a prequel...I want more of Nick! I think it would be good to go into detail about his 'adventures' after getting rescued...any excuse to get more of him.
