Nothing worse than what the waitress at St. Alphonzo's Pancake Breakfast does to the sausage patty, I'm sure.Cail wrote:I, for one, am quite intrigued by what Luci may or may not do with a cannoli.

Tell me if she laughs or cries

I'm afraid there's no denying
I'm just a dandelion

you're more advanced than a cockroach,
have you ever tried explaining yourself
to one of them?

i've had this with actors before, on the set,
where they get upset about the [size of my]
trailer, and i'm always like...take my trailer,
cause... i'm from Kentucky
and that's not what we brag about.

Those are good topics. I enjoy reading opinions from Watchers who are musicians themselves, even if I don't understand some of the more technical talk. I don't join in because I'm not a musician, just a lover of music.Lucimay wrote:...i thought threads about specific players and instrumentalists might spark more discussions about technique or style....alas, it did not.
For my part, I try to read every page of a thread (within reason!) before attempting a reply - not just in Vespers, of course. But I guess those aren't the sort of threads being referred to here. I guess you are all mainly talking about the "What are you listening to?" thread, but I could be wrong.Syl wrote:The second problem with these threads is that they have very little content value. I have the feeling that most people just glance at a few titles, scroll to the end of the page, and post whatever it was they came to the thread for.
Personally, I'd participate more in Vespers if I could, but putting down my thoughts about music takes a lot out of me. Getting the right words to describe something ephemeral like music is hard, especially something like classical music, which, unless it's opera, doesn't have the benefit of lyrics to fall back on to discuss. Anyway, we don't really discuss song lyrics all that much here, do we? All we do is post them. It's much more interesting when people talk about what the words mean to them. I pretty much don't care what the lyrics mean to the songwriters - it's their job to make up this stuff. Do song lyrics by themselves have any real "value" before they are processed and interpreted by listeners? I realize, though, that I could just be poo-pooing lyrics because I'm biased toward the music itself.
truthfully MM...i post lyrics that i like in the hopes that someone else will read them and like them too...or because sometimes we kind of "talk" to each other with them...play off something somebody posted ahead of you, or some song that something in the prior post brings to mind, and sometimes we post lyrics "for" each other because we've found someone else who likes something we like...(i'm reminded of the good time sorus and i posted the entire album of lyrics of Joni Mitchell's Hejira).
i know it sometimes looks like there's nothing going on in there but random posting but that's not always the case. of course you have to READ the lyrics (all of them) to see what it is.
other times i post lyrics to something i've just posted in the "what are you listening to" thread...kind of like a little theme.
it's just a poetry reading without the music...isn't it?

What does it all mean?
What is a canolli?
Does dAN's codpiece collection never stop growing?
Can I post-whore seen as I have been MIA for ages?

The reality is in this head. Mine. I'm the projector at the planetarium, all the closed little universe visible in the circle of that stage is coming out of my mouth, eyes, and sometimes other orifices also.
What does it all mean?
little or nothing emma! little or nothing!

well, he is somewhat of a collector!
Can I post-whore seen as I have been MIA for ages?
yes DO! post away to your hearts content! we are glad to see you back!

As you may or may not have noticed, I've been modded in here (and I'm listed first!). All threads not having anything to do with Led Zeppelin, Blue Oyster Cult, Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, and other heavy/evil bands will be summarily deleted.
And there will be an "ABCs of how much Loverboy sucks" thread as well.
