I had the most brilliant night. I went to Melbourne to go to my partner's work Christmas party. Wasn't looking forward to it at all (whole bunch of archaeologists, botanists and zoologists talking "shop").
Anyway, we caught a ferry across the bay and I ended up talking to the partner of one of the GIS guys. His name is Christos Tsiolkas, who I realised is the guy that just won 30k for the Melbourne Prize for Literature (Australia's richest literary award). And, well, I've never read any of his books, and I don't really like talking to author's about writing (unless they want to talk about it) so we just chatted on the ferry about life in general.
But, hey, spent the whole night sitting in a corner talking to him about everything (including writing). Man-o-man! He's a lovely guy! And he gave me a fantastic insight into the process of writing (at least how he does it). By the end of the night I actually realised why I don't seem to get anywhere with my writing, which I'm kind of hoping might mean I will get back on track.
I'm so glad I didn't pike (as I really didn't want to go to the party!!!)

Very cool Sea! I'm sitting here with Miss Elora Grace and we're sharing a Turban from the Flying Star (the cafe you see in the Elohimfest photos, where we all first had breakfast). Enjoying an awesome cup of coffee and praising Internet Explorer for the recent updates: text looks bolder and less fuzzy AND it's got disappearing toolbars so I can be full screen all the time! Tres coolio!!!

fall far and well Pilots!

Poor Lyr - I sympathise (I get migraines too, but they seem to be always sinus related or PMT'ish...
)
Had my nephew's 4th birthday parties over the weekend (yes, he had two - one on Friday for just the rellies, then on Sunday with a whole bunch of noisy bubs & toddlers from age 4 months to 5 years...GAAAH!! And Aunty Dana seemed to be in the thick of it as toddler entertainment bunny...my luck to be the hyperactive one in our family! At least I get out of doing dishes!!!

Hope you're feeling better soon Lyr.
Sounds fun Elfgirl (well...hmmm...do ya wanna come and babysit Son of Seareach for a couple of days!?!??!?!?!).
As for me, apart from a stomach bug (bloomin' kid bring home his bugs from playgroup!) I'm great today. I'm behind in everything I need to get done, and I seriously need a good nights sleep, but, hey, I don't care. All is good!

I am recovering from what seems to be food poisoning.
My husband took me out to a fantastic Italian restaurant Friday night, and then on Saturday...
Missed work last night after nearly 24 hours of being sick. Only slightly sick today, so I will be trying to go into work tonight.
If it is food poisoning, it would be a shame. That was a really nice restaurant, with delicious food and great service.
Yuck.

Since I woke up sunday I've had a pain in my chest and shoulder whenever I take a deep breath. Think I strained a muscle/trapped a nerve somehow overnight. It's actually feeling a bit better right now.
Also, trying to write up something for the Pantheon thread (a move I sent in this week, but wanted to write up a bit better to post), but 1) it's turning out a bit long, and 2) I'm not sure how to approach certain bits. I mean, I've got it all written down in the mail to Xar, but I want to turn it into an alright bit of writing and, would you believe it, writing well takes work.

our dog was no t well behaved. slipped the muzzle many times and tried to bite. he got some ear drops and a shot for the itching. no heartworms, so that is good.
we go back next week.

I'm up at 4am again, and all because I'm trying to write up an over-and-done-with Pantheon move in a passable story form. I really have no idea why.
Feeling tired, and sick of not being able to work out how to write this.
Edit: I've just checked my wordcount. 1000 words, and I'm only halfway done. This will have to be finished tomorrow, I think.

Man! I've had this cracking headache all day. Must have slept wrong, but feel like someone has done a bloomin' mummification ritual on my brain! ARGH!
Anyway, apart from that (and the stinking hot day me and Son of Seareach) endured today....
I'm off to Wilson's Prom (my Eden on Earth) for three days. Going with Son of Seareach, two mums I know, their three kids, and my friend John. Should be a total blast. We're armed with guitars, poetry, and a few nice bottles of bubbly! Hoorah! I just need to get away for a couple of days! So see ya all when I get back. Be good!
