Well...i'm feeling pretty weepy just now.
We took Churchill to be put down this morning. Just couldn't watch him be miserable any longer. So, he went very very peacefully. He was bright eyed this morning, came out of the closet when the alarm went off and hopped up in bed to wake me like he used to do. He hasn't done that in months now. He ate some breakfast, which he hasn't done in a week. He was chatty but went back into the closet when he saw me get the carrier out.
Ger and i took him. As i said, he went very quietly and peacefully within less than a minute after getting the injection. No agonizing whatsoever. He just went to sleep.
So...thanks for all your well wishes, Watchers, and support while he was sick.
The up side of this is that now Raymond, who was always second fiddle, always scrawny cause Church kept him from eating as much as he wanted to eat (Church was fatso catso), and who was completely neurotic, has, in the last months since Church has been sick, gotten fatter and fatter and comes out of the closet lots more. Ray will now be king of the house. It's really remarkable how healthy and clean he has gotten as Church got sicker and sicker. (Ray was so neurotic he frequently had knots all over his fur from over grooming, which they do when they're freaked out.)
So now Ray will be king cat and there'll be lots less cat hair all over and the cost of cat food will be cut in half. *sigh*
Church was the best cat and a wonderful friend for 15 years. An era has ended in our lives.
that is all.
