I agree with everything except Field of Dreams and Clerks.
I'd also add Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Shawshank Redemption, and The Green Mile.

Vain, Bubba Ho Tep should be on the list of underrated.

its all subjective anyway.
everybody's opinions are just that, opinions.
mine view is that there are one or two films on that list that speak to cultural importance, zeitgeist, that sort of thing, two or three that speak to the history and/or art of filmmaking, a couple that are pretty good adaptations, and one or two on there that are pure crap.
to those who don't like them, they're over-rated by those who do,
to those who DO like them, they're under-rated by those who don't.

where they get upset about the [size of my]

and that's not what we brag about.

Shawshank Redemption? The Green Mile?
Are you MAD?
They'd be the top 2 in my list of greatest films of all time.
Got to agree that Field of Dreams shouldn't be on that list though.

Quite mad, actually. But that's beside the point. Shawshank was a decent enough film, but is not deserving of all the praise heaped on it. There are (to me, anyway) far more moving films, and far better prison films (The Last Castle, Brubaker). I just don't get the hype.Phantasm wrote:Shawshank Redemption? The Green Mile?

I thought The Green Mile was so over the top it approached parody. It was as if a bunch of studio execs decided to make a film just to pander to the Academy.
I thought American Beauty was interesting, but ultimately forgettable.
Forest Gump made a huge impression on me when I first watched it, but upon a recent viewing, I realized that Forest should've shot Jenny in the face with a large-caliber firearm very early in the film.
Field of Dreams makes me cry like a baby, and any film that can consistently do that is worth something.

I agree with the above as being overrated.dlbpharmd wrote:American Beauty

I've only seen 9 of the films on the list, and Wizard of Oz only parts of. That movie bored me out of my skull, which is why I never bothered to watch it to the end. On that basis, I wholeheartedly agree that it's overrated.
On the other hand, I completely disagree with 2001's inclusion on the list. It remains the greatest science fiction movie I have ever seen. (I know 2001 leaves many of you bored silly, so I guess we're even, heh.)
