Whats the name of...................?

Post by Sunbaneglasses »

Are there any films or actors that you can't recall the name of?Sure,it would be easy to search the name out on the internet, but then we would be passing up an opprotunity to impress fellow Watchers with our knowledge.

Here's one:Bruce Dern raised plants on a spaceship, the ship got too far away from the sun and the plants died.I believe the ship may have contained the last of humanity.

I own this movie and it's a classic. It's called 'Silent Running'.

That is a great movie.

I saw this movie a bunch of times on TV in the late '70s or early '80s. I can't remember who's in it, but a guy in a helicopter (weather or traffic reporter, Vietnam Vet) is witness to a crime, and chases the fugitive in his 'copter. He's relaying information to the cops on the ground, who're trying to catch the bad guy too. In the end, the pilot ends up ramming the badie, instantly immolating both of them. The sad cop looks on and says, "Ya didn't have to do it". Then the movie ends. Great chase film in the vein of Vanishing Point. Love to know what the Hell it was (and no, it's not Blue Thunder).

I vaguely remember a sci-fi movie from when I was a kid. aliens had invaded, impersonating people. one guy could see them because of this watch he had. I think some other people also knew (probably had the same kind of watch). Never saw the end of it.

Are you thinking of They Live with Rowdy Roddy Piper?

But it wasn't a watch in They Live that allowed him to see the aliens. It was a type of sunglasses.

Good movie, by the way.

I'm thinking he's mixing up his fashion accessories.

Could've been sunglasses, I guess. Was a long time ago. Just remember I always wanted to see the end of it.

In They Live the aliens (impersonating people) talk to each other via their watches...maybe that's where Syl got confused...

Found it, after all this time.....Birds of Prey with David Janssen.

When I was in Chile, I saw about half an hour of a great movie about somebody named Sandokhan. I don't know the spelling, or what it was called in English, but the title was something like "The Malaysian Tiger," which was what people referred to him as.

I think it may have been a mini-series, and I've always wanted to see the rest of it.

They Live; loved it. Voted one of the best fist fight scenes filmed...goes on for like 10 min...just so Roddy can put the glasses on some other guy.

Silent Running, yes another classic. Prob the movie from where Lucas got his R2-D2 beeping language idea. And includes a very moving scene with one bot watching with concern as the other bot is being operated on.

I've been wondering about a flick from just a few years ago that I saw the very last part on SciFi channel: the ending is with two guys trapped and dying in a giant mouse trap...fade to black.
Cowboy: Why you doin' this, Doc?
Doc Holliday: Because Wyatt Earp is my friend.
Cowboy: Friend? Hell, I got lots of friends.
Doc Holliday: ... I don't.

They showed Silent Running to us in school, and indeed it was sold to us students as being a forerunner to Star Wars as far the droids/Bots go
