I don't see it being shown anywhere in the DC area, either. Must have come and went...so it must suck. j/k Looks great. I never heard that trailer voice guy talk so much in a trailer before.
Cowboy: Why you doin' this, Doc?
Doc Holliday: Because Wyatt Earp is my friend.
Cowboy: Friend? Hell, I got lots of friends.
Doc Holliday: ... I don't.

Rocked my freaking socks off.

It was a lot more gory than I expected, but it's half fairy tale, half WW2 movie, so I should have known better.

Anyway, I'm going to go see it a couple more times before it's out of theatres. LOVED IT!

I saw it in a Lowes.

Use fandango and see if there are any theaters showing it near you. :) Tis what I did.

Same here.

The Hippodrome State Theatre here in Gator Town is celerating the 25th anniversary of their cinema this weekend. Showings of Pan's Labyrinth are part of the festivities.

Paul and I are definitely planning on going.

I know the film is fantasy/horror, and is rated R. Is the violence too extreme for 13-year old Beorn? He has not seen many R-rated films (that I know of), with The Matrix trilogy being the exception.

Yes Menolly, I would say so. There is blood, there is beating, there is kinda... gore...ish.

Think of it not as just a fairy tale movie. Think of it as a WW2/Horror/Fairy Tale movie. It can be a teeny tense, almost scary, and there IS violence.

I don't want to spoil anything for you, so you don't have to read this spoiler, but I want to give you an idea of the violence. Personally, I really recommend you don't read the spoiler, but just in case you don't want to take my word on it:
Spoiler
Within the first 15 minutes of the movie, the male lead beats another man's face in with a glass bottle until he is almost dead, and then shoots the man's father and then the beaten man.

You can hardly see any moview without some level of gore. Saving Private Ryan was pretty gorey... Children af Men was too...feh. Thanks for the warning though Wadds.

Any time, Guns.

The thing is, although I know that you can expect violence in most films now adays, I'm afraid of the same thing happening to Pan's as did Southpark. There were uninformed parents (believe it or not) who sent their kids to Southpark thinking it would be appropriate just because it's a cartoon. I just know that there are going to be parents who take their children (and I'm actually thinking younger than Beorn) who take their children to Pan's unaware of the kind of movie it is and then freak out :P I don't want any freaking to occur. ;)

I think you'd have been disappointed if someone hadn't.

You're probably right.

Let's get this back on topic!

Ok, I love the guy who played Pan! He also played the freaky Eyes-in-hands guy. He was ALSO the aqua guy in Hellboy. He had to learn not just Spanish for his role (he's either American or English, don't remember) but archaic Spanish... which I think is really cool.

He's my new favoritest person. And a contortionist.

Someone else has to see the movie so I can talk about it with him!! Arhg!!

Saw it today...An enjoyable flick! It was a good story and had some very cool creature effects. Really liked the ambiguous ending. I'll give it a thumbs up.
War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself.
