How about a search function so I . . .

Post by frankELF »

How about a search function so I don't post a new subject that already been posted a hundred times before. Just a thought. I'm not someone who could do this myself, so I don't mean to put extra work on you bosses!

Well, maybe I do.
Kokopelli would be a cool avatar for me.

Trees, by Joyce Kilmer

We have one. The icon is right under the main banner (on my screen, right under the K). Easy to miss.

Sometimes it's a little buggy, but there's always google.
"It is not the literal past that rules us, save, possibly, in a biological sense. It is images of the past. Each new historical era mirrors itself in the picture and active mythology of its past or of a past borrowed from other cultures. It tests its sense of identity, of regress or new achievement against that past.”

--It would be a cool feature if you (easily) find what a certain poster had posted in a certain topic.

For example, if I wanted to read all of Danlo's thoughs in a thread about the Sunbane for example, I don't want to have to look over ALL of Danlo's posts, or have to read the entire thread (if it's a long thread)...would this be difficult to create?

You'd search for "sunbane", put "danlo" in the username line, and select results as "posts". You'd have to do a little work yourself to pick out posts that are from the particular topic you were looking for, but it's something in the right direction.

Beyond that, you're looking at a pretty major overhaul of the message board, to end up with something like you get on a vBulletin, which does have a search this forum/search this thread feature.

I think we'll go with the option where you do a little work rather than me doing a lot of work. Heh.

Anyway, Murrin's suggestion was pretty good.-jay

How much work would it be for the smock to add "search titles only"? It makes a heck of a lot of sense, is kind of annoying that it is missing, and probably is what FrankELF is looking for.

The title doesn't always tell you what the topic is about. I'd say title+message text makes more sense than just title.

I'd like the title of a thread aswel, if thats possible. Sometimes i know the thread title but cant find the thread.

No, but sometimes you're interested in discovering if there already is a thread about something. If you find one based on the title, then you know. If you don't, well, probably no one will fault you for creating a new thread. (And I ditto the remember the title can't find it problem).
