There are so many great Vain scenes, it's hard to pick one. I love the "ravish the foremast" line. And when he climbs up to TC's room in Revelstone.

What I found really cool, even on re-reading the story, is how I will completely forget that Vain is there. The story might go for 15 or 20 pages of whatever is happening, without a single mention of Vain. And then Vain does something out of the blue. Or SRD will mention that he's standing there, grinning, just to remind us he's along for the ride. And then ignore him for another 15 pages...

I seem to recall apassage where the na-Mhoram's grim was falling onto our troop, that Vain stood unaffected and grinning as the grim hit his skin and melted away.

Dat's a good 'un.

There's a scene where Vain is standing there and 'every creature that touched him died' (just writing from memory). I've always wondered if they were touching him and he would turn around and crush them, or if they were actually dying JUST from touching him (as if he had a death touch of some kind).

I like the part where he sees the sunbane warped ur-viles.

And proceeds to tear them apart. :D :D

Yea, the foremast ravishing line from Pitchwife was priceless. Near the end of his singular existence, when Vain speaks and blows everyone's mind, that was superb. Totally unexpected..
Heard my ears aright? Did not the gaddhi grant me this glaive?

Vain had many good points. But what impressed me was after the battle with the Sunbane urviles. Vain looked like he was mangled. It was Findail's deed that I found suprising. He fully healed Vain. But then he did try to kill him.

When he's (it's?) running around in the Stonemight scquelching heads, and you're not sure whether to smile in happiness, or open your eye's really wide in horror.

That was great.
