Jelerak's story inspired me to make this thread.
A friend of mine came around to my place near midnight and we went for a walk along darkened country roads. We eventually sat down and started chatting. Anyway, a friend of his girlfriend is living in an old house that might be haunted by a ghost of a child. There have been numerous occasions where someone will wake up to find a child standing in the bedroom staring at them (then promptly vanishes). Other times, doors open and close of their own accord, and footsteps can be heard at night. Sometimes the ghost child can be seen at the kitchen table.

Ghost stories

I want to give a reply to this post.
I have an open mind about all of this. I believe in an after life but only really reincarnation and the ideas of Buddhism says. Though, I do believe ghost n stuff to be true(I believe in a lot of things because I can see truth in them).
I have experienced ghost but I wasn't aware because I was too young. I have to go on my mum and dad's word. They said that when they moved into their first house, there was a strong fishy smell. My mum crazy over it and she couldn't figure out where it came from. When I arrived, the smell disappeared. Later my mum found out that a fisherman who hated kids used to live in that house and he died in it.
Other times my mum out to a old ruin with her brother. They wee investigating. When they came back to see, she said that my eyes were wide open and fixed on something. She said that they were frozen and scared. My mum though someone had given me drugs but no one had. Soon as she moved away, my dad looked over me and I had stopped doing it.
The area which I grew up in is meant to be haunted and lots of spiritual energy running through it. I never believed in it but every time I stayed there or went through it, I would always go cold and feel a bit strange. I didn't know why it happened and my told me about the spiritual side to the area.
I have read many really good accounts of spirits and ghosts. One guy I was talking to said that he was at a graveyard with his son(son about 4 or 5) and the boy ran off. When the father found him, he sitting by a grave and talking to himself. When the father asked who he was talking to, the boy said 'My friend Johnny'. On the grave had the name 'Johnny'. The father said that his boy could hardly read and the boy was talking with such confinence.
As I have said, reading a great book about supernatural stuff and it is written by a well represted Physicist. There are loads of other good stories I know.
I think there are many things that go beyond explanation and just using our five senses(which I add are not perfect). Try and keep an open mind about things.

I try to keep an open mind, and have had some weird experiences. I'd love it if there was a scientific explanation. I mean, if souls were validated as being 'real'.
I love ghost stuff.

Really depends of what is meant by 'real'. Our senses are not perfect and some things might not be accessible to us, doesn't mean they are not 'real' though. Reading a good book called 'Being a Christian and a Materialist', it is really good because it is about these philosophers who are materialists but also Christian. They think that a 'Soul' is material and survives death, they believe life after death to be material and they believe that God is material and science can prove him. I keep an open-mind as well, it is only after you experinces really weird events that you start to believe in them. Many Atheists have become believers through experinces but also through science. It is amazing how many scienctists have become Christian(or something else) because of science.I try to keep an open mind, and have had some weird experiences. Personally, I dont see science and christianity at odds if they both are willing to walk 'hand in hand'. On one side of the issue, science can benefit from the moral issue - which Christianity excels in - and religion can benefit from - pardon me, and this not an attack on Christians or anyone of any other belief, for that matter - scientific reasoning.
Anyway, when I wrote 'real' that was ironic. Or confusing. What I meant was that souls being validated as belonging to this universe, or working under the laws of the universe. It may be that they have other laws (extra dimensional, for example), but if they can be quantified and verified then I am excited.
Good post, Queea.

Well, we are seeing religion and science coming together. Science is just a method of explaining things, not a belief(which some think it is). What works today, never works tomorrow(changes in a way). I was reading a mag where they are trying to prove Gods existence, through science.
I don't know what the Soul is. I believe we have a soul or spirit but I don't know what it is. It might be the mind but I doubt it.
The Laws of the Universe might change tomorrow or Souls, Afterlife and God might be proved to be real and material things.

A couple of my best mates are involve in the above. Does my head in. I keep threatening to set up a counter-organisation that will protest at their investigations and conferences.
you know - placards with 'Leave the ghosts alone' etc. Anyone care to join?
