If I'm not mistaken, Leon Varjian was behind the student government at that point. Leon was at Indiana U. when I was there; for awhile, he was dating the sister of one of my friends. Leon was a perennial student. He was shocked to learn, after about 8 years at IU, that despite his best efforts he had managed to earn enough credit hours for a major and had to graduate. (At least that's how I heard it.) Anyway, he went on to grad school in Madison. You see the result.Damelon wrote:If you go down to Chicago late in the summer, let me know.A Gunslinger wrote:Chi-town anyone? Late summer?
Though Madison is a fun town to hook up in. First time I was in Madison, the year before I went to college, I saw Lady Liberty sticking up through the ice of Lake Mendota:
I found out years later from a friend who went to UW that it was sponsored by the student government.
Camping near Lake Michigan? I'd be up for that. My mom lives near the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore, so I could stop and see her, too. (I'd suggest pitching tents in her yard, but she would totally flip out. She'll be 92 next month and her memory is going. But even in the days when she had all her faculties, a suggestion like that would've flipped her out.

Memphis would also be a cool trip (and I agree that it should be kid-free). I stayed there overnight once and have always thought that it would be cool to go back and do the blues clubs.
Oh yeah -- the purpose of this thread: I live near DC and I could do something near here. But I think y'all know that.

I'd be up for Chicago, I think. I'm still trying to make my way out there to see the lions of Tsavo at the Field Museum...

Never been to Chicago before, so still up for that, or something in the neighborhood.
And remember, if somebody's planning a Canada get-together, drop me a line. Any excuse to go north!

Oh my god.
Oh my god.
Oh my god.
Stephen Donaldson is coming to New York!
Who else wants to go? Is this an opportunity for a Regional Meeting or not? I know there's several other New Englanders out there, and it's not undrivable from DC either.

I haven't volunteered for any programming this year. As always, I have every intention of attending the mass autographing (typically held on Friday evening)--and as always, I can't guarantee my presence. This is a "business" convention for me: unpredictable chunks of my time will be taken up by my agent, editors, fellow writers, and publicity.

Esmer, I don't know that this is the place for this. . . or if any place is, really, but here goes. . . I was recently reading a trivia/answer website and ran across something that makes me look on your "location" in a whole new light.
Any comment?

I think the Frappr Kevin's Watch Location Map which Menolly made could be useful... here's a link to the relevant thread:

Of course, some unlucky Watchers like me (but truth be told, people like Avatar have it even worse) might get depressed at the thought of being almost completely alone in an emptiness of non-Watchers...

thats exactly where it's from, from a thread discussion related to something Avatar said that I can't remember, but I turned the phrase to mean something more philosophically oriented....Wyldewode wrote:Esmer, I don't know that this is the place for this. . . or if any place is, really, but here goes. . .
