Tsaloga,
I wish, dear sister, that you would communicate. We share a continent, after all. If nothing else, you would at least be more aware of Shakari's weekly disasters. Forewarned, and all that.
However, I think the 7-DRP increase is out of the running. A smaller increase has not gotten much support, either. The ideas most likely to be agreed upon are 1) destroying the Abomination that has me by the throat, or 2) sealing the rift in Chisi's lands.

Why should the DRP increase be out of the running? It is the most logical and fair choice.
NOT doing it is something I can't understand. So much more could be accomplished with it than just choosing to close a rift, or destroy an abomination, or whatever. It can be used to not just to good for the entire land, but individual good as well.
It seems silly to me to do anything else.

The 7-DRP increase was already ruled out. Am I not correct? Do all agree to it? It would allow many problems to be solved. Although Simjen points out that it would also allow those who choose to take care of their own needs, and let the rest of us take care of the things that threaten all of Eiran. But if it is the only thing that can be agreed upon, it is better than nothing.
But I think someone has already said they would not agree to it.
So a lesser increase was suggested. And there has been little response to it.

I am very concerned with the rift that has appeared in your lands and I wish there was something I could do to help you. Unfortunately, I am not a powerful goddess and every bit of power I have is needed for my own lands and people.
However, maybe we could put our heads together and come up with a plan. Let me know.
While I also hope that this would be the fairest choice, I cannot agree that it would be the best. I know you are a gamblin' woman but I prefer my assets a little more secure. Why should the DRP increase be out of the running? It is the most logical and fair choice.

There is nothing to "backfire." It's all very simple.
I have 7 more points. That means I have a total of 12 points. I contact a few of the gods who have agreed to aid with the rift. Together we decide to dedicate x amount of points... (let's say 25) to this rift. Yay! No more tear in the fabric of reality!!
Meanwhile, Bhakti also gets 7 more points. He gets in touch with the gods who have expressed desire to take care of the abomination. Together they dedicate x amount of points to ridding themselves of this creature. Yay! No more threat to Bhakti and the rest of us!!
Wham, bam, thank you Xar.
Yes, there could be gods who will be greedy and not use their points for the greater good. And there could be gods who split their points to aiding both causes.
It would be very simple to find out who put points into what if it were a matter of knowing who did what. But honestly? I don't care. I want all of the problems solved. This seems to be the most efficient way to do it.

I heard a story many eons ago about a High Lord named Elena who was given the opportunity to drink the blood of the earth. By drinking this blood, she would be able to make one command. However, Elena was cautioned by the deliverer of this opportunity to be careful of what she wished for, for power not learned, was power not earned. Even her companion cautioned against drinking the blood. There is nothing to "backfire." It's all very simple.
Elena's desire for immediate results and the need to save her land and people from evil spurned her to drink the blood, despite the advice against such action. She summoned a dead High Lord to do battle with the Evil for her. Having been beaten by this Evil before, the dead High Lord failed yet again and this time brought down Elena with hm. The impact of her action caused much more damage than good.
Power of this nature can backfire.
Not only that, a few of the gods have mentioned here that closing the rift would close them off from their realms. Would you close the rift and destroy these gods in the doing? Even the great Nor Yekith said he would not support such an act because The Womb would be damaged by it. Would you risk his anger and opposition?
I also fear this rift as you do and I know that if we can put our heads together, we can come to a solution.
Please, dear sister, consider my words.
Melirelle
I will support the offer of increasing each deity's power, whether by 3 or 7, as long as it comes with a pact, enforced by the Book of Law, that no god or goddess can use that additional power to interfere with the actions or events of another god or goddess for that turn. And then only if Nor Yekith does not veto it himself.

First- I am not asking the AllFather to come down to solve all of our problems for us. I am also not asking to become something more than I am. All of us are all ready gods, and it is not unthinkable that any one of us may someday naturally achieve the power that I am asking to be temporarily gained. The metaphor you offer is inaccurate.
Second- I'd like you to read these words a few times over: There is a rip in the fabric of reality. (I think I may be repeating myself here, if so I apologize.) But go ahead and humor me- just read that statement once more for me, please. Now, through this rip, aliens that warp and destroy everything they touch are pouring through. This is absolutely unacceptable. Please tell me I'm wrong, because I'd like to understand how. Either these aliens come through, and my armies kill them (if they can) or they stay in their happy little plane of existence and do their own thing.
I am asking to sew up a tear. That is all. Is it so bad to go back to how things were, before aliens were entering our lands and warping our reality??
In one option they die, in the other they stay where they belong. Which one is better for them? Which one is better for us?? Hey! Look at that, it's the same option.
Where is the issue?

I have mentioned my concerns about this method, but it does seem like the one most likely to lead to a good overall result. I would agree to the increase in power, if the rest of you support it.

Thank you. Despite your newness to the pantheon, I am sure that your opinion holds much more sway than mine.Xar wrote:Melirelle

The alternative is what? Let the abominaiton live and let it continue to sap strength, moving from god to god in turn?Murrin wrote:Need I bring up one other thing also? This abomination is draining the life from a god. If we simply give the request that it be destroyed, do we know that it will not take Bhakti's essence with it? We could be responsible for crippling the god of love's strength.
I am sure that any power lost can be restored. And I would be the first to volunteer to aid Bhakti in his restoration.

I agree, Murrin, that Bhatki could also be hurt if we attack the abomination.
I just wanted to point out that our hands are tied here. We are almost damned if we do and damned if we don't. And, I just don't want us to make any rash decisions.
At this point, we really need to come to an agreement on how to use the power. Time is running out.
I would like to use the power. It seems like half want the extra points, the other half want to destroy the abomination.
Ultimately, either choice is our best choice - equally good, equally dangerous.
Damnit! I hate gambling.....
Chisi, how do you deal with the stress?

You can always trust in luck-
Trust in it to do you right, but trust in it to screw you.
Either way, in the end there is always balance.

The only god I know of that has been directly opposed to the increase in DRP is Nor Yekith, and even that is uncertain, as it seems his belief was that all would be at an equal level.
Indeed, time is short. That is why I'm putting it to a vote. Two options. Say 'yay' or 'nay' on each and say which you would prefer.
One: Increase each deity's DRP by a certain amount (when saying yay, also say which maximum amount you would support up to 5) with the agreement that "no god or goddess can use that additional power to interfere with the actions or events of another god or goddess for that turn," to be written into the Book of Law by Hedra Iren.
Two: To save Bhakti by destroying the abomination attacking him.
When it is done, I will choose the option agreed to by all and favored by most, sending that request into the Mist.
One: Aye, up to 5 and preferred
Two: Aye

Said she, "What I get I get out of the fire,
So prithee, strike home and redouble the blow."
So prithee, strike home and redouble the blow."
Whether the wish is used to remove the Abomination from existence (and I would be most happy if that was the decision
), or to get extra DRP's so that I could use them (and any who chose could send me some) to fight it, I am not at all worried about it taking my essence with it. I thank Maeror (and, of course, Jove
) for their concern. But if it is not defeated, I will be gone anyway. The worst that will happen is that it goes with me. The best is that I survive and it does not.
Melirelle and Simjen, is there possibly time to get the Book involved?? I can't imagine there is. But wouldn't Yek's Oath to the Allfather be sufficient?
However, that wording is not sufficient. I will not agree unless all take the Oath to not use any power to interfere with the actions or events of, or to act against, another god or goddess, or his/her lands or followers, for that turn. What is the sense in giving someone 7 DRP, saying s/he cannot use it mess with another, but allow her/him to use his/her other 1-7 DRP's to do so?
If everyone agrees to that wording, and takes the Oath, given the two options Simjen is limiting it to (And I do not argue this. We must act quickly, and Simjen is the one who received the offer.), I vote:
One: Aye, up to 5
And I hearby take the Oath of the Allfather: If we get extra DRP's from this wish, I will not use any power to interfere with the actions or events of, or to act against, another god or goddess, or his/her lands or followers, for the turn.
If anyone will not take that Oath, I vote:
One: Nay
And in either case-
Two: Aye, and preferred (And if this wins, please phrase it so that the Abomination is "removed from existence." I wouldn't want Abomination guts & energy all over Shakari.)

Before my narrative, I'll just vote. That'll quicken things up.
1. Aye, up to five. Though, I would want a very specific wording on what such points can be used for.
2. Aye, and preferred.
Now,
I would like to address a few issues here in the Pantheon. Firstly, my apology and deepest regret. I have been blinded by the passion of Conquest in front of Justice, even more so than Maeror was by his own darkness. In truth this problem was solved awhile ago, but I couldn't see past my own wants.
That being said, this war is over. I expect no messages of forgiveness, and no pity either. I will work from this point on in the name of Justice only. As a token of goodwill, I am officially giving up Conquest. It is fruitless, and has left a sour taste in my mouth. To compensate, and to ease tensions, I am becoming the god of Justice and Honor. This is not to say that I am no longer a martial god, for what good is Justice without the force to see it through? But Conquest will never again blind me to my duties.
I work for the good of all from now on. As such, I am offering to provide a police force for any city or town that would have them. They will consist of a platoon of soldiers from my ranks (or more, if you request for bigger cities), and will preserve the peace and hold court for broken laws, each depending on the laws of the city. I will, hopefully, be working with Hedra Iren much more often in the future.
I am sorry my Brothers and Sisters,
~Lord Adomorn
