I'd have to disagree. It is human nature to turn to self. Becoming better is not a given, but a result of undergoing difficulty/crisis and a will to change. That obviously happens with Covenant, so no problem there. Just in relation to humanity at large, cowards (or name your vice/sin) don't naturally become brave leaders (and by brave, I do mean the type that overcomes fear to do sth).
