8O Wow! Just wow! (I need to watch this again and I never say that about a movie) Norton is one our greatest, if underated, actors, period. Such attention to detail, sets, historical time-frame. Wonderful camera work and finally a movie that compliments Phillip Glass' music (other than Koyanishatchi and Poyanishatchi). Sewell was great. Finally a plug for Giamati--I couldn't stand his whining in Sideways, but he impressed me in Cinderella Man and now-whoa, the dude has arrived!! 8)

Agreed, completely. Loved this movie, and Edward Norton is easily one of my favorite actors of all time.

Jessica Biel wasn't half bad, either. Then again, I hadn't set my expectations of her too highly. ;)

What is this movie actually about? I like Edward Norton but I'm not too willing to spend money on any random movie with him in it.

It's money clearly well spent--there are some scenes fantasy fans will simply adore. Hate to sound wry but it's about an illusionist, a very good one. 8) The magician himself has a very Cagliostro feel (if you know who that is) and deals with court intrigue during the Austrian Empire.

I saw it with my aunt a few months ago, and remember it was pretty good. Although I remember that mostly being because of Norton.

Saw this movie last night and loved it!!!! I am pleased to say it is in our movie collection so we can watch it again and again. Rufus Sewell was absolutely creepy.

Agreed. Excellent film.

The Illusionist, good movie, not a really great flick. Suffers through some weak narrative. Could someone, please tell me what kind of accent were the actors trying to make me believe they had? As a poinit of comparison, consider Kendra's accent from BtVS, for the unidentifable accent circumstance.

Watched the film over the weekend. Very entertaining. My wife and I rented several films and picked up the Illusionist as an afterthought. I noted the preview for its theatrical release but nearly forgot about it. In total we rented 9 films and watched them from friday to sunday. The Illusionist was by far the most memorable.

I believe they were trying for some mild hungarian or german accent....this was certainly not well executed by anyone.

I bought this DVD to watch on my laptop during my plane trip to Hawaii (10 hours...whew) and then that is one of the movies they showed! I played with my PSP so to save my DVD for later. At any rate, I finely watched it last night and like Danlo I wanted to watch it again right away! I liked the way it was filmed, the music and both Edward Norton and Paul Giamatti were naturals in this flick; excellent work! One of the best I've seen in quite awhile.

Saw this last night....great movie!!!! Paul Giamatti was excellent in it, and Norton was sublime. I have The Prestige coming in a few days...which do y'all like better?

I watched this movie this past Friday night. Really good, one of the better ones that we watched in quite a while.

One question...

The doctor who examined her 'dead' body...what was his tie in with Norton's character?

He obviously was in on the charade...

Heh, so I used this gift certificate I've had for a while and bought the Illusionist. Looking forward to seeing it again.

I also recently saw Norton in the Painted Veil. Also a good movie. Norton is great.-jay
