I'll have enough on my plate with directing. Perhaps Alynna as The First? She's a warrior at heart.

Guns, you mentioned SRD for TC but I know for a fact that he would loathe that role and from his own mouth I know that if he had to play a role his first pick would be Mhoram.

Now that you're in my good books again, sure. But just don't spoil anything when you do the interviews!

Well, please excuse me if this news puts me in a foul mood.

The rest of you may feel happy (relieved?) over the demise of a potential Covenant movie, but I'm very depressed and disappointed that the whole thing fell through. Remember that the producers who had optioned LFB are also fans of the books. Remember that they were part of the creative team behind one of the finest television miniseries ever, Band of Brothers. So these are people who care about quality. This could have been the best chance for a good Covenant adaptation, under the guidance of people who actually cared about the books. Now that hope is gone.

So, movie naysayers, go ahead, this is your day to gloat.

I'll privately mourn the death of a dream.

Who says the dream is dead? What if the movie becomes a viable option in a few years? Just because the producers failed does not mean failure is a certainty every time.

Matrixman, don't despair. Just because the current holders of the movie rights have failed, it doesn't mean that it won't be made. It just won't be made by that particular purchaser of the rights. Perhaps fate didn't think it was the right time or the right people. Honestly, I think if anyone makes movies of this series they will have to have a very delicate touch. Yes, we are joking about it on this thread but if I actually got to make the series it would be a far far cry from FBH. Screen writing alone would be hell and casting would be a nightmare. I parody his work but I love and respect his work. In order to sell it as an actual film you would have to tell the producers that the first film will alienate viewers. That's gotta be damn hard to sell. The people who would see the film would be us, hardcore movie goers and the critics. Any critic who was unfamiliar with the first book would give it two thumbs down. A film about a leper who is thrown into another reality who rapes a girl and then refuses to believe in the alternate reality, refuses to believe or participate? Is willing to let his companions be slaughtered, tries to commit suicide, is forced in the end to participate by brute force ending in obviously temporary resolve? Not easy to sell my friend.

Probably easier to make a movie about Esmer and Cail's clashes in the 'Tank. ;)

Honestly, I think Mordant's Need has a better chance of actually ending up in film. Either that or any of his Axebrewder books. Not to be a total wet blanket but just a realist. Also keep in mind that Peter Jackson had well proven himself before directing the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy and therefore had much better pull when pitching a trilogy.

They should film the Gap sequence, but given that the series didn't sell so well (which astounds me), I doubt that will eventuate.

Then make it so. I was just trying to cast watchers and thought the easiest way to avoid hurt feeling would be to playfully suggest our man SRD to take the imaginary reins!

SRD would be a fabuolus Mhoram, too btw.

Given that he is more of a force of nature than anything else...Revan needs to be Nom!

I agree, i wouldnt say good news at all.
But if you're all about the destination, then take a fucking flight.
We're going nowhere slowly, but we're seeing all the sights.
And we're definitely going to hell, but we'll have all the best stories to tell.

MM -- I also met the news with disdain and gloom. but I am hoping this opens the way for another producer who will follow through.

I think Peter Jackson could do it -- I know many don't like his LOTR trilogy, but I did...

I'm there, too, MM. Very disappointed. (I think you know I was rather avid for this movie.) I think everyone's just finding a way to feel better about it - I know I am.

So .... can I be Milos? Sometimes it's like my Watch persona is virtually his clone.

Sorry, everyone, my emotions over this film fiasco got the better of me yesterday. But I spent the night imagining different methods of exquisite torture applied to movie studio executives, and I feel better now. (Though not having a movie to look forward to still sucks.)

Yea, it does suck. But I can't imagine anyone really doing justice to what I've always seen in my mind.

That said, sign me up for Troy!! 8)
