LOL. That works too
Winky and Dobby would be an adorable couple if she'd just get off the sauce. Of all the stuff dropped from GoF movie, I think Winky saddened me the most, I so wanted to see Winky smashed on butterbeer

Hmmm....
Does anybody know anything about those little countdown clocks? The only code I found seems not to work here (I think it's specifically for myspace type pages) And even if it did, it would only be visible on the first page of the thread, right?

Rowling 'heartbroken,' 'euphoric' at 'Potter's' end
NEW YORK (AP) -- How does J.K. Rowling feel now that she has finished the seventh and final Harry Potter book? As the author herself confided Tuesday on her Web site, "Charles Dickens put it better than I ever could":
"It would concern the reader little, perhaps, to know how sorrowfully the pen is laid down at the close of a two-years' imaginative task; or how an Author feels as if he were dismissing some portion of himself into the shadowy world, when a crowd of the creatures of his brain are going from him for ever," reads the passage from Dickens' preface to "David Copperfield."
Adds Rowling: "To which I can only sigh, try seventeen years, Charles."
Rowling announced February 1 that "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" would come out July 21, bringing to an end one of the great phenomena of literary history. More than 325 million copies of the first six books have sold.
So, how does she feel? Having quoted Dickens, Rowling has a go at it on her own.
"I always knew that Harry's story would end with the seventh book, but saying goodbye has been just as hard as I always knew it would be," she writes.
"Even while I'm mourning, though, I feel an incredible sense of achievement. I can hardly believe that I've finally written the ending I've been planning for so many years. I've never felt such a mixture of extreme emotions in my life, never dreamed I could feel simultaneously heartbroken and euphoric." (Need a Potter primer? Click here.)
She continues.
"If it comes as any consolation, I think that there will be plenty to continue arguing and speculating about, even after 'Deathly Hallows' comes out. So if you're not yet ready to quit the message boards, do not despair," she writes.
"I'm almost scared to admit this, but one thing has stopped me collapsing in a puddle of misery on the floor. While each of the previous Potter books has strong claims on my affections, 'Deathly Hallows' is my favorite, and that is the most wonderful way to finish the series."

Seems like JKR has woven herself quite a yarn to end the series. If it is her favorite...it begs the question: Knowing what we know about HER as an author..what could make DH her favorite? Twists? Relationships between the characters? The springing of the hidden suprise that was beneath our noses the whole time?
Speculation anyone??

Isn't the most recent finished work of an author their favorite until a new project is begun? Or until the euphoria of being finished wears off?A Gunslinger wrote:Seems like JKR has woven herself quite a yarn to end the series. As in Book 6 there was a key element from Book 2 (the vanishing cabinet in borgin and burges), there is supposed to be a line or element from GOF that is particularly important in book 7. I've read GOF probably 10 times and have no idea what the heck it might be.A Gunslinger wrote:Seems like JKR has woven herself quite a yarn to end the series. I have many theories about what will happen in this book, as do many in my age group that have been HP fans from the start of the series. If JO has been great at any one thing it has been twists and layers. Each significant death, starting with Cedric, has given us insight into Harry's maturation as a man and a hero. Each death has been a learning process for him. With Cedric, it was the cruelty of LV and the beginning steps down the road to greatness or failure. With Sirius, it was the lesson that the more grown up the mistake, the more grown up the consequences and of course Harry's destiny. In the case of Dumbledore, which has so many damn loose ends, we have the passage of one age's hero and the coming of age of the next age's hero. What I look forward to most is seeing how all these little twists and turns come to fruition in her final Harry Potter work.
JO has been already quoted as saying that even when the book is done, there will still be more room for speculation. Frankly, this scares the hell out of me. There are so many things that we still don't know and its maddening to think that some of them that i am most eager to know may be eternally unanswered.

A question that truly pulls at the strings of my heart...Snape is probably my favorite character after Sirius. I believe that Snape serves only one master, himself. There are elements (such as his hatred of James or his love of Lily) that can make the case strong for him to be purely a dark wizard. I do believe though that he will be "good". Dumbledore gave him chances no one else would have, he would have been rotting in Azkaban if not for DD's speaking to the Wizengamot on his behalf. More than anything though is my belief that JO is trying to break barriers that her style of literature hasn't really crossed; the world is not made up of only good people and death eaters.A Gunslinger wrote:Storm, what about Snape? Good or bad?
The eyes of the Storm sees Snape as good

I think we all believe the pocket watch found at Number 12 Grimmauld (sp?) Place will be the horcrux R.B. (I think most believe that's Sirius' brother, Regulus Black) switched out.
But something from GOF? That I never heard. Now I have to reread that one!

Guess I'm on the reading bandwagon again.... Guns, no comment that Storm apparently shares your Lily/Snape theory?

Something I found on mugglenet a lil while ago. I should probably double-check to make sure i got that right.Menolly wrote:GOF? One fascinating thing in GOF that some may not pick up on is that after Faux Moody kills Crouch and DD sends the silver streak over Hagrid's hut, that's his patronus and he's contacting Sirius (the way that Order members contact each other that DD points out to Harry in OOTP)...I'm doing a re-read of GOF right now, searching for obscure clues, if you find anything post it up.
May I inquire as to the nature of Guns theory on Lily/Snape? I have several theories on this matter and would love a discussion on that, as I believe this "connection" will have some cool implications for DH.Cameraman Jenn wrote:Guess I'm on the reading bandwagon again.... Well certainly one thing from GoF that has yet to fully play out is "Dumbledore's Twinkle in his eye" near the end when Harry returns from he Graveyard. So far, we have seen no advantage for Harry in Voldemort using his blood. It seems to have all been Voldemort, tighter mental connection, able to touch Harry, brought back to life, etc. Dumbledore saw something in this that gives Harry the neccessary upper hand in order to dispatch Voldemort (Unless it perhaps has something to do with Harry's being a Horcrux or Not? Perhaps something about it proved Harry wasn't and that relieved Dumbledore, or perhaps it proved he was, which told Dumbledore Harry couldn't be killed by Voldemort without killing himself? Not sure, but definitely still needs an explanation).
Also, from OotP, the Veil, IMHO, was way too big a revelation to simply be used merely to off Sirius. Surely it (And the voices eminating from within) must come up again in the final book.
I'm not sure the "Mortal Danger" clock has played it's full part yet, and finally, Harry will likely get a great command of the Occul/Legilimancys
