Are you...?

Post by Zahir »

ARE YOU A RIGHT-WINGER?

1. Do you think adultery is impeachable in Bill Clinton but forgiveable for Rudy Guiliani?
2. Will you fight to protect an unborn baby but refuse to help feed it once the umbilical cord is cut?
3. In your opinion, is innocence an invalid basis for appealing a criminal conviction?
4. Are marriage and family sacred institutions for straight people but "special priveleges" for gays?
5. Do you think "freedom of religion" only applies to Christians?
6. Would you say there's no such thing as a Hate Crime?
7. In your opinon, could the Cold War still be lost?
8. Do you spend more effort criticizing gays than the people who beat them up?
9. Are deficits only bad when the President is a Democrat?
10. Are balanced budgets only good when the President is a Republican?
11. Do you agree its wrong to register weapons but perfectly okay to register cars and boats?
12. Will you call any American who wears a government uniform a hero?
13. Can sexual harassment just be a case of "boys being boys?"
14. Do you oppose finding out whether an innocent man was executed in this country?
15. Are you in favor of not enforcing laws if they have to do with pollution?
16. Would you rather see teenagers catch a fatal, incurable disease than practice safe sex?
17. If a Democrat gets the most votes, is that by definition a stolen election?
18. Do you agree that corporations selling legal, addictive and poisonous drugs bear no official responsibility?
19. Would you say that people who sell illegal, addictive and non-poisonous drugs should be put to death, or at least imprisoned for years?
20. Is it a disgrace if a federal court forces the government to obey environmental laws?
21. Are all decisions in favor of Republican causes impartial?
22. Would you agree that avenging a crime is more important than preventing one?
23. Does making a lumber lawyer Secretary of the Interior strike you as a good idea?
24. Is the media biased when it covers both Democratic and Republican scandals?
25. Do you think complaints about Civil Rights violations or racism are just examples of Politcal Correctness rearing its ugly head?

If you answered "yes" to more than three of the above, then Congragulations! You are almost certainly some kind of Right-Winger! Sorry about your side losing WWII, btw.

Think that's a ref to nazism (the uber-right ;) ), Forestal.

Oh, puh-lease.

By American standards, I'm certainly a rabid pinko commie (that is, I'm a Swedish social-liberal ;) ), but this is just dumb. Hint: if you want a political rant to be taken seriously, don't call your opponents Nazis unless they actually are. It never does any good. Trust me on this.

Besides, any Internet discussion that mentions Nazism in contexts like these is bound to degenerate into a nonconstructive flamewar within moments.

Bah, don't be apathetic! They want us to think "oh, politics are boring! Leave it to the guy in charge." And you know who THEY are!

Normally I'd agree with you, Theo, but in this case, this particular list is in response to a previous, even more inane checklist the right put out. Considering I've seen the right version far more often than the left, I consider it only fair.

Oh. I didn't know that (although I've seen hundreds of these dumb lists floating agout the 'net). Was that posted here? I must've missed it.

Anyway, I stand by my opinion that you're not gonna convert anyone to your point of view by calling them a Nazi.

Hey Syl, would you be able to post a list put out by the Right-wingers so those of us from outside the States can compare.

He knew only that they had never striven to reject the boundaries of themselves.

I ended up reading this thread because the title offered no clue as to the content. My answer to the question is: Within the context of Kevin's Watch, it couldn't matter less what my political beliefs are. In my opinion of course. I don't visit this site for spirited political debates. I get enough of that just about everywhere else and KW is generally a welcome respite from it.

Or, rather, it's easy enough to avoid such debates here by simply keeping out of certain forums and threads. But you sure can get deep into it here if you want!! :)

If I get it again, I'll post it here. They usually go straight to the trash can, though.
