Fatal Revenant D & A Completed

Post by iQuestor »

There I was, just minding my own business, when BAM! I got the news. Oh yes, I got the news.

I have people, you see:

From the GI today entitled "Fatal Revenant D&A"
Quote:
Both Orion/Gollancz and Putnams/Ace have just declared "delivery and acceptance" for "Fatal Revenant". This surprises me, since my editors haven't yet had time to read the third draft. But it does mean that my publishers are firmly committed to releasing the book in October.

Great news.
But if you're all about the destination, then take a fucking flight.
We're going nowhere slowly, but we're seeing all the sights.
And we're definitely going to hell, but we'll have all the best stories to tell.

Full of the heavens and time.

Still lots of work to do - they make their copy edits (which will be slightly different in the US and UK versions because of things like color and colour), then Steve needs to review their changes and send back his comments. They still need the cover art. And I think the printing itself is scheduled - they can't print that many copies of any book at any time they want, since the equipment will probably be set up for a different printing. And they'll need lead time for marketing and collecting orders from the booksellers.

So getting D&A three months early really helps, but it doesn't necesarilly get it onto the shelves any quicker.
And then the ravens pecked out his eyes.

Oh, lol, publishing takes time. And we must be happy for the work is from SRD, a best-selling author. Cause in normal terms, the process takes even longer. Sometimes years.
But, hey, I understand your impatience, I'm feeling it myself :D
My heart still possess a wondrous shining place
Where dwells love, immaculate to behold
And this treasure, more precious than gold
I fear to lose in Time and insidious solace
