KEVIN'S WATCH ANTHOLOGY III - AUGUST 2007
Have you considered the possibility that you might currently be trying to push your story in a direction it doesn't want to go? This is always the case when I think I suffer from writer's block - if I can't continue a story, it's usually because there's something wrong, be it the narrator's assumed identity, a specific event in the last chapter or so, or something like that. In the story I'm writing now, I got stuck for a few days before I realized that a certain conversation I had written was obviously forced, and that within the concept of the story itself, that conversation obviously shouldn't have been held.

I have altered the title of this thread to reflect the change in schedule. I see no issue with pushing up the deadline to help Joy with her work. He we should get down on our collective hands and knees and thank God she's willing to do this for us. Who wants to volunteer to bring Joy her slippers or top off her coffee while she's hard at work? She deserves whatever help we can give.
Joy, if I haven't said it before, thank you very very very much!

You have, Tom.
I would be delighted to have someone fix my breakfast while I'm editing. Want to make make me feel pampered? You're making a good start.
Seriously, I learn a lot about editing working on the Anthologies. I make a lot of friends and discoveries doing it, too.

Joy none of this would be possible without you.
I have finally gotten an idea for a story appropriate for the next Anthology. I promise that I've learned my lesson. Having my last entry rejected was traumatic but educational. I tried to skimp by throwing an old unfinished story into the mix thinking that applying no effort would be adequate. I was shown the error of my ways and am committed to writing a fully realized and completed story for this go round. I'm actually quite enthused by the idea I've come up with and I've begun writing it this very morning. There should be plenty of time to get it done.

I hope those personal issues weren't with me.

I'm also willing to help out again if required.

All I can say is...Thank God for both Murrin and Variol Son. Your continued service will be much appreciated. Look at us. We're beginning work on our third Anthology project. What a great idea this was. Thanks Hierachy or whatever you are calling yourself these days.
At this point we have about 4 months to get our stories written. For some of us we'll need every second (okay just me.

About 3 months left to write your stories. I guess around the end of next month we'll get our crap together and identify the submission team, publish our guidelines and post the time table. I'm starting to feel a little pressure to write. It's a good thing because I've been procrastinating.

Haha, I haven't written anything substantial in over a year now. I could try a submission for this anthology (it would be my first), but I expect I'm a little too rusty.
OK, so I think we should spread the word around the forum about the deadline for Anthology 3, as I don't think the majority of members check this forum. Maybe add a link to this thread in our sigs or something.

Agreed. Maybe mention it in Gen Dis (running it past a GD mod first might be a good idea) and perhaps Announcements. I only check this forum if I'm bored, and I wouldn't be surprised if others pay it similarly little attention.James wrote:OK, so I think we should spread the word around the forum about the deadline for Anthology 3, as I don't think the majority of members check this forum. Good idea to put it a reminder in another forum. Do folks check Announcements regularly? I'm most likely to go to General Discussion, but that's just me....
Hm, 3 months to go. Maybe I should come up with an idea....

When I log in the first thing I do is click on "View posts since last visit" in which case I'd see there is a new post about the Anthology regardless which forum its in. I don't know if many of you do that but it makes sense to do some kind of announcement in a general forum that everyone might see.

Maybe I'll finish that old thing I started years ago and submit it....probably not, but maybe. It would take 2 hours to complete it, so I might be able to finish it in three months.

Even if I do see that there's a new post about the anthology, I usually don't bother looking, because most of them are of no importance. *shrug*aTOMiC wrote:When I log in the first thing I do is click on "View posts since last visit" in which case I'd see there is a new post about the Anthology regardless which forum its in. Sure, post reminders wherever. Use the announcements forum if you want. If you need my help at all, just let me know.
I want to do something for this, but it's a matter of if can do anything creative in 3 month, heh. My creativity has been sucked dry over the last year. So I don't think I can do a short story. And I probably suck at poems. Is there anything else fun I could do? Heh.-jay
