Command & Conquer 3

Post by Nathan »

This may surprise many of you, but EA has finally made a decent game.

Command & Conquer 3 is a return to all the things that make the series great. The FMV mission briefings are back, as are our old friends NOD and GDI. They've got all their old units as well! Obelisks of light, mammoth tanks, the construction yard (no more of this dozer bollocks), engineers, TIBERIUM! I can only assume that whoever was in charge of Generals was sacked and replaced with someone who knows what they're doing.

I haven't played any multiplayer yet, but the campaign has been awesome so far. I'm part-way through the GDI missions and it's got me hooked.

Commandos are back! COMMANDOS!

It's quite a nice looking game as well, but doesn't seem to be particularly taxing on the hardware. I am able to run it on the highest settings without any problems.

Anyone else played it?

There's a Ctrl+Alt+Del comic that says how geek-awesome the actors in the FMV sequences are, with Grace Park and Tricia Helfer from Battlestar Galactica, Josh Holloway from Lost, Jennifer Morrison from House, Michael Ironside and even Billy Dee Williams himself!

It's refreshing to see FMV with real actors making a comeback.
Q. Why do Communists drink herbal tea?
A. Because proper tea is theft.

I've read it :)

I was also amazed when I saw "the guy from stargate and thingy from battlestar galactica!"

Gave multiplayer a go... Can't get it to work at all, there are huge issues with multiplayer, many many people are unable to play or find themselves being randomly disconnected. I can't connect at all. I've tried port forwarding, DMZing myself and all the tricks, but no luck.

They claim they're working on a patch (and one was released yesterday) but it's done nothing for me. Made it worse actually.

That sounds pretty cool. I need to check it out sometime. I haven't played a C&C game in ages. Not since Red Alert, I think.-jay

The game is really good, I like it.
Nod missions are easy and GDI missions are average. Alien missions are difficult, I can't get passed the second.
