Um ... yeahhhhhh.....

I just changed my travel plans. I'm flying into Denver and driving down with everyone else. Can I sit in the middle in the back seat? :-)
And then the ravens pecked out his eyes.

OMG!! I almost lost it this morning.

Some back story...

For the past two years, since Beorn started middle school, the last three days of school have been half days. His school does the middle school awards ceremony on Wednesday, and the Thursday and Friday are optional attendance.

School ends on June 1st this year, and although I didn't have an end of the year activities school calendar, I was confident there would be no problem making my reservation out to Albuquerque for Thursday, May 31st...

Lo and behold, the end of the year calendar is handed out today, and what day is the 8th grade graduation and award ceremony scheduled for??? You guessed it, May 31st. Image

Now, I'm sure you're sitting there thinking "C'mon Menolly! It's only 8th grade graduation." But despite Paul's and my best attempts since Beorn was 3.5 years old, he's an only and these type of things are important to us.

So, I rushed home and verified the time of my flight. B"H, it's after 5:00 PM. Beorn's school does these ceremonies during school hoours, and since it's a half day, the graduation is scheduled to end at 11:00 AM. School will be dismissed at 12:30 PM. Tampa's airport is only a couple of hours away, so we figure we can pick Beorn up at the end of the day at 12:30 and hop straight on to I-75 and make it to the airport in plenty of time for me to check in. Image

:::Now to try and find some driving directions for the alternative route to Tampa airport from Gator Town that I have heard is much better than the interstates. If only I could remember the State Route number, it would help:::

So, um, do we have a schedule of events or anything yet? My ex-mother-in-law has been asking me what we're doing (since the girls will be spending at least part of the weekend with her), and I've been saying, "Um...well, we're going to dinner with SRD on Saturday night, and...um..."

A few ideas for events have been mentioned. I remember we talked about a barbeque and/or high tea. At the last Albuquerque Elohimfest, a bunch of folks went out to Bandalier National Monument on Sunday -- dunno if we want to do something similar again.

Anyway, I'm starting a template and putting it up for discussion:

Friday: arrivals at various times; are we getting together on Friday night? Do we just want to meet at a watering hole?

Saturday during the day: ??

Saturday night: The main event -- dinner and Q&A with SRD, whoo hoo!!

Sunday: ??

And btw, Danlo, I'm happy to pitch in and help with any/all event prep that weekend.

I was going to ask about the format for the Q&A. At the first Elohimfest in 2004, there was plenty to ask SRD. A new series on the Land provided all kinds of speculation.

Things are a little different now. The series has started, so what can we ask about the current series that either is a spoiler or would ask of a spoiler as an answer? Through the Gradual Interview, he pretty much answers all kinds of questions. Perhaps it would be better for us to ask him what he would prefer to discuss in a Q&A session and we could come up with questions with that in mind?

Just my :2c:

I'm officially not going to be there. Every penny I spend is being scrutinized by my STBX's attorney, so I'd have an awfully difficult time trying to explain several hundreds of dollars being spent to go meet an author and commune with y'all.

I'm not allowed to have any fun or do anything at all. I was asked why I spent $30 on a coffee maker. Seriously.

I totally meant to reply and I forgot... cause I'm dumb.

Anyway, I will gladly share the backseat with you, Romeo! :) I'll even shower, too, so I won't smell.

:::very confused:::

I thought the kilted one's unsupervised naked time was supposed to be in Denver to help Waddley raise funds?

:::no, that has nothing to do with me now flying directly into NM::: ;)
