Yes it really is a movie...based on a book, I think by Norton Juster. It's mostly animation but is bookended with live action film.

It's about a boy, Milo from memory, who hates school work. The Phantom Tollbooth turns up and he drives his toy car through it into an animated world where he must rescue Rhyme and Reason using language and mathematics.

 The kid in me obviously wants some attention
Well Wizard doesn't do much for, nor Shrek, and Fantasia did even less for me, sorry to say.

BUT the 5 rental videos we have at home at the moment are :
  • Sleeping Beauty
    Cinderella
    Peter Pan
    Bambi
Snow White And The 7 Dwarves
(because of course I am making my first visit to Disneyland in November!!)

We really wanted to get hold of Alice In Wonderland but it was out on hire already :(

"Hook" was a fun romp too. Robin Williams as a grown up Peter Pan, Julia Roberts and Tinker Bell and Dustin Hoffman as Hook. My kids love it :)

I borrowed Ladyhawke about a year ago, couldn't get more than 10 minutes in ... the music alone killed it for me!

Ladyhawke had an excellent story line. I loved it :) And Mathew Broderick is so funny in that movie...

ah well, to each their own :)

Lady Hawke does have a great story line and Broderick is very funny as mouse ;) lol .. and I have always loved LH .. but how long has it been since you last saw it?

for me it had been years .. and it is quite a shock how dated it is ;)

and the intro music is truly horrifying .. LOL

but the movie is still good inspite of being dated and tragically scored ;)

What's wrong with the music? I haven't seen the movie.

Its like 80s keyboard stuff all the way through ... like a Georgio Moroder tune ... umm imagine if Argento made really bad films but still used Goblin for the score!

I liked the music...LOL!! I must have very bad taste...hehe

Not sure what is meant by "dated". I find it sort of timeless. I actually watched it maybe 3 or 4 months ago. I love the story about the curse and the evil bishop... In fact, the evil bishop is where I got the idea for Sar Lok, in loose terms. But, the idea of an evil church and demon spawned from the bishop in Ladyhawke. :)

I wanted Fist to see it because Navarre turns into the wolf at night. I know he loves wolves :)
