Nope, it's all in the music rights.

Well, a show that was all about the music gets the music changed. It makes a difference, but the show for me was the comedy. The music meant something too, but I'd rather have half a good thing than nothing at all. I might just be buying this.
A great line I remember from some salesman giving his pitch to Herb:
"Your belt matches your shoes, but there's a hole in your life."

Life is a waste of time
Time is a waste of life
So get wasted all of the time
And you'll have the time of your life
The problem is that the music was a character in the show, and I remember the show from when it originally aired. Having Les put on the wig to anything other than "Hot Blooded" is just wrong, as is the great scene with AC and Johnny listening to "Dogs" (this scene has been completely cut).
They even changed Jennifer's door chime!
I'd rather pay $80 for the set and have it complete.

Actually, I heard something that is seriously making me reconsider. I hear that for some scenes, rather than just change the music, they are cutting the scene entirely. Changing the music is one thing, cutting scenes something else.
But here is where the rub is. If the WKRP set doesn't sell, are the producers of this smart enough to realize, "oh...what we should do is make the set people want, because we know a fan base is there, but they aren't going to take this crap." Or are they going to be like most business folks, seeing only "well, nobody bought this so I guess there is no interest in it." Money talks, my friends. And if they don't make money on this, they might never have the money to make the set you want. Then again, I'm not sure what I'm talking about, so don't listen to me.

That's the thing, I'd buy the whole series in a heartbeat if it was complete, and I'd shell out reasonably big bucks for it. To me, there's no point in buying it knowing that it's hacked up (and rumor has it that the wonderful "Dogs" scene is completely gone). Now sure, there's still some great stuff in there, but I seem to recall someone saying something about hurting people by giving them back something broken....

One of my favorite epidodes was the sofball epidode...it wasn't that all that funny, but I was just a kid, and I found it quite moving..
Also the one where the reality show (?!) follwed the Tarlic family around, and they tried to come off looking like a neat nuclear family; in the end Herb spouts off to them, and gives Herb Jr his doll back.
I liked any of the shows where they showed Herb in a positive light.
The one where he cancelled his client that was selling speed was another good one.

I loved Herb. I loved Herb's clothes. I loved Herb's hair.
Herb was the man.

I saw this today when I was picking up the NCIS Season 3 DVD. Not a single disclaimer anywhere on the box that it's been altered.
Damn shame.
Damn shame.

Especially if you consider the "film at 11" a Kentucky Fried Movie reference.
"It is not the literal past that rules us, save, possibly, in a biological sense. It is images of the past. Each new historical era mirrors itself in the picture and active mythology of its past or of a past borrowed from other cultures. It tests its sense of identity, of regress or new achievement against that past.”

Is it?
I always assumed it was just more lunacy because a radio station doesn't have film or pictures.
That's funny!
